Confused About K/W Research Tools

I hope you all can give me a hand with my problem. I am fairly new to internet marketing and I am using some k/w research tools to find the best words to be targeting for my site. The problem I am having is determining what figures are correct.

For example I trying to find the volume and competition for a k/w such as:
"Modern Bridal Hairstyles"

Google Keyword tool says: 1300
Wordtracker says:6

I am sure you will all agree that this is a big difference and I certainly do not want to do a whole bunch of work to target a k/w that has only 6 searches.

What am I doing wrong or what tools do you suggest using as I was lead to believe that these 2 tools were 2 of the best and most accurate to use?

Thanks.

Keri

    Hi Kerri, welcome to WF.

Unfortunately, different KW tools seem to always give different results. First, it's important to note that the length of time used is different. Google gives searches per month, and I believe wordtracker is daily searches. Of course, even factoring this in it won't add up.

Honestly, I think your best bet is to work with the tools and get an idea of the baseline they give you. I personally think that google is more accurate, and I use it more often then anything else. Over time, working with a specific tool, you'll get a feel for how good the numbers are.

Sorry I can't offer more specific help.

    Warmly,

I usually check spyfu and google keyword tool. It seems they are more accurate than the free keywords of wordtracker. Maybe it will depend on the trend also. It happen to me that I targeted more than 1000 searches at wordtracker and I only have less than 50 unique visitors even my keyword was on page one of google. So make sure to select a keyword that no big difference in number of searches.
