Please Help - Minimum Word Requirement for Article Directories?

I realize a longer article is always better . Why? because it captures long tails and probably gets more traffic.

But If I want to pump out articles solely for backlinks, then shorter articles are cheaper for me to buy.

Therefore, I want to know the shortest article requirements possible.

It seems to be 250 words. But on some sites, it doesn't seem to matter.

I have no problem with 250 words. That would be great.

Anyone know the stats?

I would honestly keep it between 250-300.

250 is incredibly short. Go look at any 250 word article, and you'll notice they are only a couple paragraphs in length, if that.

If you looking to go shorter than that, then I would suggest a different method of building backlinks.

    • In article marketing longer is NOT always better. People want their information fast. If I see a long article or an overly long blog post I usually won't read all of it unless it's something REALLY good.

Well cool. This is good news. I can have 250 word articles written for me for a very affordable price.

As far as I know, the ezine directories accept articles having 250-1500 words. These are the extremes. According to the guys at ezinearticles.com, an ideal article length is 450-700 words.

Usually, my articles have 600-800 words, because 250 words seem far too little for what I have to say, but that's just me. And yes, it takes me a bit too long to write articles (about 2-3 hours per article).

I try to keep mine around 400 - 500 words. Anything longer than that in an article and I usually do not read it unless the information draws me in to the end. I have found that 250 word articles usually do not provide enough good information. There is always the exception.

Remember the purpose of the article is to get the reader to get to your bio box and take whatever action you suggest. If they do not read to the end they will never do so.

I find it hard to start, finish, and say something interesting in the middle of an article unless its 450-500 words...
