Hi all,

Well to introduce myself I am a Gas and Fridge/Air Conditioning engineer from the UK.

I have been searching the forum and would love a bit of specific advice reference my situation.

We offer a repair/install service to commercial customers. Our website is new and is pretty attractive.

However it is lowdown on google search listing so I am coming up with a plan to resolve this!

1. Registered with google places(awaiting postcard to verify)
2. Refining our content and metatags etc
3. Looking at backlinks and software such as senuke
4. Making some technical videos on refrigeration to upload and use as video links

Does this sound like a plan at all to you guys? Or a complete mess

I thank you for your time and really appreciate any pointers

Kindest regards, scott
  • Hi Scott,

Yeah, that definitely sounds like a plan, you got your fingers in a lot of stuff there though I'd say those videos would be the lowest priority. Good to see you already registered with google places and doing some onpage optimization shouldn't take too much time (just make sure your target keywords appear somewhere in the page title and header tags, apart from that you can leave your content as it is right now). It would also help if your target keywords are in the domain but of course you can succeed without that.

Also look out for other related terms that people could be using to find your site and then set up inner pages for those keywords. Don't just backlink your homepage but inner pages as well, the link juice will automatically transfer over to the domain.

When you build backlinks, make sure they don't have the nofollow attribute and are on pages without the noindex tag, preferably high-PR and related to your niche though the latter is rather a bonus then requirement. Make the anchor text of those links your target keywords.

    Hope that helps!

    Hi Scott

If you look at the WSO section you will find a lot of people selling courses on how to go about selling web services to exisiting offline business like yours.

By buying this you will cut out the middleman and be able to learn the tactics so that you won't end up paying more than you have to for your advertising.

You've made a great find here, just remember not to waste all your time here learning.

        Yay for another Brit.

Leicester must be a pretty popular place for IM'ers. I'm visiting my webhost there next week.

      Hi San and Alan !

I would post my site up but I didn't know if it was allowed?

I think my first task is backlinks and also my metadata. I won't lie to you guys I do need to be up there on the first page in google. As a new business I want to be first in line when the summer months come in and the A/C starts breaking!

        Scott,

        Hello from the UK.

It's great having so many folk on the forum who can speak the Queen's English.

The Americans are nice people but their written and spoken English is dreadful.

They can't even pronounce "niche" properly.

[That was a joke by the way!]

        Seriously,

Search the forum for some of the services that guarantee to take your url to page 1. Ask a few of them to give you a quote. You may find this is as cost effective a way to go as any.

        Just a thought.

        Regards,

      Hi Scott,
Before you do any kind of backlinking or tweaking your metatags, you need to make sure, with keyword research, that you're targeting the right phrases for your site.

I'd disagree with a couple of the above posters that you need SeNuke and don't need videos (but you'll find that everyone has different opinions here!), as often local search terms don't need many backlinks to get them up onto page 1 of Google. And video marketing can be effective for small businesses. I'd recommend you download Traffic Travis, and run your keywords through the SEO Analysis section. That will show you the strength of your competition and how easy it will be to outrank them.

You might want to visit the Offline section of the forum too to get more ideas about the best way to go with your site.

      Good luck.

    Hi Scott,

It would be good to get your on page optimisation done before you spend any money & time on backlinks. Using tools like SeNuke is good if you are in IM business. Cost of these tools are not a big problem but it takes lot of time to learn these tools.

There are lot of good information on this forum & also lot of WSOs to get you site ranked. If you have lot of time in your hand & enjoy doing the SEO, link building etc then you can use the tools & get your site ranked well otherwise find someone in this forum & they will do it for you.

    Good luck
    Vijay
