Freaky report yesterday!

I opened my Amazon account this morning to view my reports from yesterday. All looked normal except my least popular site got 70 clicks. I thought this was crazy as it usually gets only 1-3 clicks. So I checked Google Analytics and that site got ZERO visits yesterday (it usually gets 2-3).

Just to emphasise, this is by far my least popular site as it has hardly any search presence. So how is it reporting 70 clicks with 0 visits? I recognise Analytics is not 100% reliable as I'm sure Amazon is not also.

There will always be ghosts in the machine...

Or the day period in Amazon does not match the same day period you were looking at in Google Analytics. Also the stats in Google Analytics can sometimes take a while to show up - it's not instant.

But yes, you are right. Nothing is perfect.

I isolated the queries so I was looking at the same time frame. also, that site NEVER gets 70 clicks. just strange behaviour...

Could it be possible that one person clicked your links 70 times?

And could it have been a bot crawling your site, which would cause Google not to count the human visitor?

thats the most likely answer. the unique clicks were still above 40 though, and now you mention a bot it seems likely - i'm guessing they send multiple requests before moving on.

That is very strange indeed. I would check the raw stats from your web server.
