Need A Merchant Account (for Canadian) ASAP!

Hey guys,

I've been scammed!

I hired a customer service team to handle my refunds and transactions. I was receiving reports every two weeks on the refunds and cancelations being processed.

It turns out that this company wasn't actually processing any refunds. As a result my chargeback rate was higher than Visa & Mastercard allow (it was 4.5% which would be fine if they were refunds and not chargebacks) and my merchant account pulled the plug! Now my merchant account with Elavon has been shut down (without notice... no email, calls or letters).

This is a huge issue because all of my recurring payments and all of my business revenue runs through this merchant account. My shopping cart and authorize.net are ready to deposit the funds if I can find another merchant.

Any suggestions for a merchant account that works with Canadians that I can sign up for asap?

Do a search on the forum for Canadian merchant accounts. There are a few threads on this topic to choose from.

Go to the bank where you have your business accounts. Explain the situation and see if they can help you out. They probably offer credit card processing, and if they don't they can make an introduction.

I'm in Canada and I'll be glad to help.

First of all, I'm sorry to hear your story. Elavon's customer service is non-existent in Canada. You call them, you leave a message and you wait and hope they got it and they'll call you back -- maybe NOT :-(

To cut the long story short, the chargebacks is a huge issue. The VISA/MC parameters permit only 1-2% (depending on the business), so 4% is way too high for them -- that's why they pulled the plug.

So, if they haven't blacklisted you for that, it would be still possible to get you onboard.

Email me at apovolotski AT sterlingcardps.com and we'll go from there.

Oh, and if you're paying more than 1.6%, then you're being overcharged.

    Best regards,

    Alex
