Help : Opt In with video

Hello...I am new here.

I have a video optin template and an account with aweber.

I am would like to use this template with my aweber account but I cannot figure out how? Suggestions? BTW I am using it on Wordpress.

My final goal is to have a video/opt in side by side but Aweber does not offer this.

Thanks

I have a site with a regular opt in page. I want to try video for my new site. I may decide against later but...I would like to try it. I still wish I could figure out how.

Where are you hosting the video from?

You don't need a fancy template.

You would simply put the video embed code, and the autoresponder code on the same page.

If you have a template, it is probably in the source code somewhere to find where the codes should be placed to keep things aligned properly.

Open up the template file in html editor like Dreamweaver and replace the default form code with the one aweber gives you. Or better yet, hire an Indian guy on elance to do it for you for $5. Saves you time and money, and it will look better in the end.

Perhaps I will consider getting help from someone. My budget is small...does anyone have suggestions of where I can find cheap help?

    Hi bizcoachf,

    Welcome to the warrior forum.

Since you are new, we have no idea as to how much you do know. So I am going to assume you don’t yet read/write HTML code – that is the computer gibberish that makes up web pages, and is translated by a browser into a web page.

Aweber, when you design a form, gives you a couple lines of code, which when placed inside the HTML code of your web page, will create the opt-in form.

You have a template. Okay, that is a web page, and that template is made of HTML code. I assume the template has a place for the video and another place for the Aweber form.

Let me go off in another direction for a moment. It will make sense. Your video is a file – a video file. You have to “store” that file somewhere on the web – either on your own site (the space you rent on the computer of a web host like Bluehost or Hostgator) or place on a video sharing site such as Youtube or Screencast.

The video sharing site will also give you some code to place into the HTML gibberish on your web page – the template. That code you get from Youtube or from Screencast also contains the video player (software) that will allow the video to play on your website.

Your website will be the hosting place you have rented on the computer of the hosting company. That is the place to which you will upload your template once you have put the Aweber code and the video/player code into your template.

You need an HTML editor software to paste the Aweber code and the video code into that web page template. Yes, you can use windows notepad, but it will be better if you can see what happens. Therefore a web design software would be better suited for adding the code into the template.

There is a free web design software called KompoZer that is really quite an excellent piece of software. You download it free from KompoZer - Easy web authoring and there are tutorials on Youtube and also at thesitewizard.com: Website design, promotion, CGI, PHP, JavaScript scripting, and revenue earning. (not an affiliate).

In Kompozer you would drop-in the Aweber code and the Screencast (or Youtube) code. Then you need a FTP client software to upload your new website to your host. KompoZer does have an FTP client software built in, but an easier one to use (and is also free) is called filezilla. It is available at Filezilla.

The reason I mentioned Screencast, is they have a “free” version for use with video files up to 2gigs, and up to 2gigs of download each month. Screencast is very easy to use. When you need additional storage it’s only a few dollars a month for up to half a terabyte.

I hope this clears up more confusion than it causes. It does take a while to get a handle on all the technology about which you will want to have knowledge.

I have tried downloading the Aweber Plug in but it does not let me include a video with my opt in. I have looked at the source code of sites that have what I am trying to make like katiefreiling.com and they seem to use a Jquery Plug in.

      This is greek to me.

I don't think I am going to figure it out.

I tried posting the job on Elance and got quotes of $150 not $5.
