I fell in the WSO trap.

Nothing against WSOs I think some of them are great, and others are so-so. But being somewhat new to IM, I was a bit too interested in the WSOs and I would jump from one WSO to the next feeling good about my new found knowledge.

The problem was, I just wasnt implementing. I'm proud to say that i'm out of the "hole" now and i'm taking action and making progress. To all others that may be stuck in this "hole", get out and just do it

You're not alone... I did the same thing! Out of curiousity... what area did you end up focusing on?

    Thanks and good luck!

      I'm jumping into PPC.

BTW, I actually do not regret buying the WSO's I did, because they were very very informative. And yes, you may be able to learn everything in the forums without paying, but you would have to really sort through all the junk to find the useful info. I liked buying them because they were straight to the point and taught me what I wanted to learn

Not trying to shoot you down, but playing PPC as a beginner
        is a pretty dangerous game.

Be very careful and keep a close eye to your account daily,
I have seen quite many people lose their shirt even with the
        best PPC book around.

In this game, most of the battle is fought during the Keyword
Choosing Phase, if you have got great keywords, you have
already won. Patience and diligent is the key when choosing
keywords, use a great tool like Market Samurai, hastiness is your
        enemy.

Good luck and wish you success.

Wow PPC is a game, with Google, Facebook... are winner. You may solve a math of conversion and profit. It likes a gamble with beginners. PPC is fastest way to get traffic but it cost too much, and it require you have some budget.
If you success at first time and got the key, you can do that for get more profit. But if you are fail, you will give up.
Why you need pay them to get traffic when it has a lot of ways to get traffic without spend a dim. It requires sometime, but the cost for maintain it will not high as PPC.

All info is given in this forum, i have purchased 1-2 wso's and they were quite helpful.

if you want to learn, download everything you can from the war roo and absorb it.
Then purchase wso's about the niche you want to follow. If you need traffic tricks, then buy traffic related wso's.
But don't buy wso's to learn the basics, most of them require some foundation to be of any use.

Nearly everyone makes this mistake when starting out in IM.

Consistency and focus are two very important factors in IM/aff marketing. I didn't see any results until I focused on one area and started implementing. It gets easier as your hard work starts to pay off.

Most WSOs are good for just one thing: Headline research.

Because the headlines in that section really are amazing, they'd make you sell your kids for access to the information...when 99 out of 100 times it's rehashed and was easily available in the War Room or Freebie side of WF if you had just learned how to use the "Search" button initially.

I think I will write a WSO on how to get every WSO on WF for free...Here is a hint:

Most WSO authors talked about the technique they're selling in the WSO before they decide to turn it into a product. Sooooo...just click on their name, select "Find More Posts", and read every single thing that person has ever said on WF prior to the WSO going live.

The majority of the time you'll not only find their technique, but you'll see their pitfalls and the weaknesses of it as they experimented. The funny thing is that you can see when the lightbulb went off in their head for when they decided "hell, I should sell this" because all posts past that date of decision will rarely refer to that technique again.

Just a tip, but research and reverse-engineering is everything if you're trying to save $$$.

To say that with any credibility you'd have had to try most WSO's, otherwise how would you know?

I've bought about 15 of them in the last year, and I got something out of all of them but one.

Honestly, I think people need to buy less WSOs, and that's coming from someone that sells them.

People buy them all day because they're so inexpensive, but it really shouldn't matter if the product is $7 or $97. It's about the commitment you're taking when buying the thing.

And if you're going to buy something new, make sure you can act on it immediately, so you don't accumulate an entire hard drive full of awesome stuff that you haven't used. That's why some people claim to "know everything" yet make nothing, something I've seen quite often.

Now that being said, I'll be the first to admit: I have my own business and I'm doing my own stuff, but every so often I see something I think I can't pass up...

(Damn you Mike Lance, and your 'WSO of the Day' promotions)

Happens to the best of us lol, but I at least try to curb it.

        -Tom

PS- It really is good market research tho. You get a shortcut to the pulse of what sells.

All of Internet Marketers are the same at beginning. You buy WSO, read all of them and give it away. This will makes your hard disk full.
Remember as a class, with many students, with same teachers, some people will be get great success, and some is fail. You may need action and luckily to success. You can buy one by one WSO, learn from it, write down what you get, make your our blue prints, your detail plan and follow it. You will success with it. Best wishes.

Yeah I'm not trying to burst your bubble either, but ppc IS dangerous even for people who know what they are doing.

There was a guy working in the same IM office as me (couple years ago) who had made a couple million dollars with ppc in the past, but at that moment was struggling to keep his campaigns breaking even.

It seems that you can know everything there is to know about it, and you can STILL lose your shirt.

I would recommend starting off with something that's less of a gamble, but that's just me.

That being said, f you think you know what you are doing and you have confidence, then go for it!

Buying WSO after WSO is kind of like quicksand and you can sink fast with no hope of getting out!

That is, if you keep trying to run all the stuff you learned on all those WSOs at the same time. Not to mention, some were probably crap or don't give you enough guidance so you can actually get anywhere.

Yep, it's just great to focus on one thing and have a good plan of action to follow so that you can keep going up and up and up and work on perfecting that one plan of action.

  • WSO's are addictive. They promise so much "For only $7". You end up sitting there thinking "$7? Why am I even hesitating".

I made a decision to bypass all WSO's now for a few months and focus purely on doing what another has told me to do. Yes there are some great WSO's out there with great ideas, but I'm focused for now and will have to come back to them.

Yes, everyone starts out like this. Thinking that they need to know all the best secrets to success before they start making money.

My advice, dive in and start making money. Make $1 a month with whatever you are doing. Outsource this as many times as you like to many as many $1's as you like per month.

Learn the secrets later, if you think you need them...

Most people, especially newbies tend to confuse the promise of making money online with the real sense and the reality of making that money.Making money online is more than a dream. It is an act,a skill that you must learn.

It is a business[something you must do,act and get involved wholeheartedly everyday until stands],and you must handle it as such and with care and passion. If you reason IM as "make money",I am afraid you will never get there, trust me.The gurus will not tell this but it is the hard-core truth.

There's actually a lot of great WSOs in this forum. The problem is, its easy to become trapped in the cycle of buying one after the other. As a former addict myself, I don't actually regret my past addictions. I've learned a lot! The trick is to actually put the knowledge into practice, i.e. don't keep buying without implementing the information. I agree knowledge is very important, but it ain't gonna do you squat unless you apply it.

I know your pain, I spend thousands of dollars on WSOs, but actually I don't regret it, I think I learn more from those reports, ebooks, videos, than on any guru training program.

The secret its to know when you have to stop and start to work on daily basis.

You are not a victim of WSO Trap, you are a victim of the "money greed" which you have, where people think "oh I want to earn money quick". Organize yourself, plan your actions and then act upon it, and you will see results soon. How soon ? That depends on how much focused you are.

I agree. It is not a wso trap but your own "trap" in a sense that you are not taking action and getting stuff done!

For instance, I have only dabbled in email marketing and only did things "half-arsed" so to speak. (Totally against my philosophy... I am not afraid to admit it.) So today I purchased what I believe to be my first wso from Kieren. Instead of letting it go by the way side I am taking tomorrow and implementing it.

Make a commitment to yourself that you are going to take action one thing at a time and make something work before you move on to the next shiny object.

The great Rich Schefren(pardon misspelling if I did ) has stated in webinars I have been on, "Don't be an opportunity seeker...".

Sadly I did the same thing when I got into IM. I "studied" for two years before taking action! It doesn't have to be perfect to get results it just needs to GET DONE!

Firstly, I justify buying WSO's by thinking if I can buy a shirt for $20 - $100, why can't I buy a WSO that may show me how to make money. Some of the WSO's actually deliver on that.

My saving grace was that when I started out I was cash strapped, so I was like the kid in a candy store whose folks could not afford the candy and was looking longingly at them.

What it did mean however was that I was forced to be creative and look for other ways to learn. I did also have a friend who was and is still way ahead of me in the game who continually encouraged me. He, on the other hand was like the kid in the candy store with rich folks(he did make the money online in the first place to be fair) and he bought bought and bought WSO, tools, software and boy has it paid off! I look at his tools and go green with envy.

So based on this experience, I will say the most important thing is you must do, act, implement and you will see results. Then like any successful business, you need to reinvest. more tools, more software, more WSO's.
