What is a PLR product?

This is definately a newbie question. I am a newbie, however. What is a PLR product? Also, what are the legalities around rewriting and selling e-books? I have read a free newsletter that said that one could get someone else's e-book, rewrite it, (remove fluff, reword, update, etc.) and sell it. Sounds fishy to me, if not illegal. What's the deal, oh Warriors?

    PLR is awesome.

Here's the answers to your questions.

    1. PLR= Private Label Rights. It basically is where the author gives you the right to rewrite and put your name on their work. It's TOTALLY legal as long as you follow the license terms (usually published with the PLR work).

    2. You can use these as a base for a new product, article content, anything that you want as long as you follow the rights that the author prescribed.

The reason why authors would do this is because when a product is getting old or not selling as well...they might use this as a way to increase the revenue before it totally goes away. There are other reasons too but this is a major one.

Another reason they might offer this is b/c it adds value. Instead of selling a 47$ product, you could sell it for 67 or 97 bucks with PLR. Purchaser values it b/c they have a "ready to go" product...seller loves it b/c they get extra revenue.

The reality of PLR is most people download it and never use it. So, in a way, you don't dilute the product as much as what you might think. Most people who purchase or get PLR won't use it and you generate extra revenue.

    A pretty decent set up.

Hope that clarifies...if you have any more questions...feel free to PM or facebook me!

    Eber,

Brad answered that perfectly. I just wanted to add that I too felt that way when I first started getting into this stuff. The truth is though, if you follow the rules, you can actually profit big time from these products in a totally legal and legitimate way.

If you would like some more information, please PM me and I will give you some great information about PLR's and how to use them to you benefit.

    Sincerely,

    Craig Raphael
