Can you get a good ranking straight away or does it take time?

Hi Guys,

I setup a site with an EMD (exact match domain) Name of website in the title, name in description and some categories.

Optimised my Article SEO, I only have a few articles of content.

I got my site indexed in hours but am not currently ranking. I know I need to build backlinks but I was expecting within the top ten.

It has only been a few days, am I being too eager? I have got a pr5 backlink off a similar niche forum and a couple of social bookmarks.

This is a new site not the one on my sig. I

Any help is appreciated!

I have over 30 websites and based on my experience i can say that it takes arounf 6 months to get first or second page ranking in google.
Having said that i go for keywords with good competition.

Your post above, published here less than an hour ago, is already ranking at number 1 in Google for the phrase "I have got a pr5 backlink off a similar niche forum".
    What does that tell you?

Looks like it can be done in less than an hour, after all. To rank at the very top of Google is trivially easy. To rank there for keywords for which huge numbers of people are actually searching, unfortunately, is another matter altogether. The answer, in other words, is very simple: it depends on the degree of competition (i.e. on the quality of their SEO, not on the number of "competing sites").

I thought my onpage SEO was pretty tight, LSI included. Perhaps i just need to build my offpage. Is it possible to get a page 1 hit on a domain 3 days old with 3 backlinks thou. I would have thought so, but i must be missing something. I will have to re-evaluate my competition perhaps..

    Hi rxtricky,

Just out of interest, when I click on the link in your signature I go to you blog but when I go to the "click me" link I go to a URL which is

http: //www.squeezeframes.com/22814/9885.html and it's advertising a free listwire account.

How does that benefit you? Or is it like a CPA offer?

I'm just interested to know, do you own Listwire?

I am just testing list wire as an autoresponder. It works in part like a JV, if you use listwire and get an opt-in you get a credit for a banner add.
Good for somethings bad for others but it's free. I will probably move to Aweber once I turn my attention to listbuilding, but for now i am building a list and it's not costing me a penny.

You can always look at Freeautobot and Mail-chimp.

Now to your question, Alexa was right.

To rank for a keyword, it depends on the QUALITY of competition.

        Look at their:
        • PR value - quite important
        • Backlinks - PR value of backlinks, number of backlinks and type of backlinks
        • Pages indexed - just an idea
        • Domain age - this might be a factor
        • Alexa rank - though somewhat faulty, but a nice comparison tool

Do your research. Study your competition.

Has happened for myself, and clients, in as little as 24 hours and as long as 6 months.

Just keep building backlinks and adding content and you'll keep that precious #1 spot.
