This is overwhelming...

Hi everyone, first time poster here on the warrior forums. I just have to say this is a great site with a lot of really cool people. I've learned so much already just browsing these forums.

The only downside is how overwhelming all this information can be. I really want to get into IM and become profitable. I'm ready to take action! There is so much to learn and so many WSOs claiming to get a newbie like me making money.

I have a very limited budget (I work as a line cook ) and am trying my best to get things going, but with so much info it's tough.

Any words of wisdom from you warriors would be encouraging.

    This forum can be a gold mine, but at the same time it can be absolutely worthless.

    Don't just stock up on information, or you won't get anywhere, don't just buy 5 WSO's and think you will be okay. You need to implement what you learn, take action by putting it into action, not just by learning!

      Thanks for the replies! Yeah I'm ready to take action. There is tons of things i still need to learn but learning these things as I go is what I need to do. I'm kind of scared to failure tho I know it's gonna happen!

      No wrong, this forum IS a goldmine. Don't buy WSO's period. Learn what people have to say, make friends, meet people. When somebody you know produces something worth paying for, then you'll know their WSO/ebook is worth it. My advice to you is to just pick something to work with and then learn everything and everybody involved. If it doesn't work (reality check: everything works if you are good at it) then try something else.

      Edit: Honestly, if somebody you know writes a book and you can't get their technique to work, do you really think a friend wouldn't refund you? These are forums, you're here to meet people and learn stuff, being overwhelmed is part of learning. At least you know that there's much to learn and that's much further then most new IMers get.

    It takes time to learn things but the best advice is to start out with simple things like learning how to create a site, learning all aspects of seo. Once your familiar with these then start following a system i.e building amazon affiliate sites. Stick to it. The first site or 2 may not make you much but you will learn a ton from the process.

    You pick up new things almost everyday in IM so be prepared to learn a lot and not expect to be cashing in right from the start.

    Try out as much as you possibly can at the start. Getting your feet wet will put you ahead of 98% of other people who simply sit back, read, and talk about starting for months and even years. I've seen it all too much.

    As far as knowing where to start goes, find a method that it seems other people are succeeding at. Do some digging around here and buy what seems to be the best product or two based on that method, and get started. Whether it's affiliate sales, CPA, Adsense, Amazon, or anything else, commit to just one or two things and stick to them. Once you make a commitment, don't veer. Give it your steady efforts and make it happen.

      I'm not sure I agree with this. I think it's best to investigate a handful of strategies that interest you, list pro's and con's of each, and then focus on one or two things. I think a major problem newbies experience is that they spread themselves too thin and lose focus.

    It is indeed overwhelming, I spent months just reading and thinking I was taking stuff in ready get get started... When I finally did get started I learnt a hell of a lot more from all of my mistakes - it's a lot better this way in my opinion.

    Take a look at the free WSO's you can get your hands on in the forum, there are plenty of really good ones! Just make the plunge, buy some hosting and find a good domain following your niche research, and get started. Take a look at WSOreview.net for new ebooks, trying to update more and more now.

    I am coaching someone right now and I've found it easy to break website building into steps. It is really a steep learning curve. You obviously have the basics like design, on page seo etc.

    But where people really get stuck is content development. If you are not a good writer have someone else do this for you. If you are an outstanding writer, have someone do your backlinking or set up your campaign for you.

    Don't spend 6 months trying to wrap your head around it all.
    Don't rush out and buy WSOs and various other goodies willy-nilly.
    Don't try lots of feeble attempts at lots of different things.

    Do find something that grabs your interest and plan on learning how to earn with this.
    Do have a realistic expectation of what you can earn (tip: it's not $10,000 a week!!! on autopilot!!!!!)
    Do give whatever you attempt a fair trial.

    You will do yourself far more favours by choosing a strategy and putting the work in every day for 6 months - making mistakes at first, not making any money, learning from these mistakes and then making money - than you will by flitting from this strategy to that technique for this or that market.

      I was the same way, I'm still reading every day and learning, but here is some advice that really got me out of a tight spot financially...

      *offer a service while you learn*

      I made my first money by creating a service from the skills I already had and offering it to the community for a low price. Now over a year later I'm earning steady money from that same service and I've learned alot just from my customers and seeing what they are doing with their websites and clients. i've also made some good contacts who have shown me quite a few things I would have never thought of.

      So if you are good at writing articles or want to offer backlinking services or can design ebook covers or create videos (but really don't I dont want any more competition) or be a virtual assistant...that might be a way to get some cash in your pocket asap while you learn all the details and fine art of IM.

        Two things you need to do while you're learning all of these methods is begin taking action and don't jump from course to course.

        I know what you mean about feeling overwhelmed. I was so overwhelmed my first year and because of that I was scared to take action. Take action! You will make mistakes, but mistakes are a part of learning. Also know that you will fail a lot. Failure is also a part of learning. Just know that after you fall and get back up again and again, eventually something will fall into place and you'll begin making money.

        Find a plan that sounds right for you, learn it and stick to it. Try not to get distracted either.

    Hey Nico,

    I would highly suggest that you look for ONE method. Yes, just one. Then spend 1/4 of the time reading it and 3/4 of the time implementing it. If it doesn't work, look for another method and do it again. Trust me. So long as you keep taking action, you will find the method that is best for you.

    NOTE: But choose only one and forget about the shiny stuff all around. Or else, you will be left with so much to do that you'll end up doing nothing.

      Like you, I have just begun to post here but have been lurking for some time
      You are right, it is all overwhelming - but Aira is correct - choose one aspect of IM and concentrate on learning the basic skills to bring that to conclusion - then you will be able to look at other ideas. Put your sunglasses on and disregard all the shiny objects!! don't be like me and get sidetracked all the time - wastes precious time. ugggh
      There are so many wonderful people on this forum who are very willing to help us all.

    I made the mistake during my first couple of months of just reading and learning but doing nothing, and by the time I finally decided to actually do something, my brain was so overloaded, I was just . . . frozen - unsure where to begin. I agree with everyone - learn as you go.

    Yep, the best thing to do is just dive right in. Thats what I did and it's been pretty successful so far. I'm also new to WF, as I am switching over from BHW, due to the general retardation that goes on around there.
