Including a link at the beginning of an article.

I have an article that recieves around 40-50 hits per day, but the clickthrough rate is pretty low (<15%)

At the moment I have a link in the middle of the article and at the end of article. I'm just wandering if it would be more effective to include one at beginning?

I always try and put a link in the first sentence. I have found this to increase the CTR. I'm not talking huge differences but an early link will get more clicks

On the subject of links, can anyone tell me what they find to be the best tool for linkbuilding? I heard linkvana is really good? Any other suggestions?
