Hi Folks,
I'm after advice about the best wp theme to use for a review site.

Thanks!

I'm afraid that this is the kind of question that's going to trigger answers that are all over the board. Personally, I would choose a theme that's appropriate for the niche, rather than try to figure out if it would work well for "reviews." I pay a lot of attention to what color schemes would appeal to the target audience, as well as the general impression that the theme gives me when I first look at it. Layout is important, too. If the theme is too cluttered and has a lot going on that can distract the reader, then I either avoid it or do a lot of tweaking to make it look clean.

The simplest is usually the best because you can make it look more custom and less "wordpressy".

    To review what?

You need to put a little more effort into your questions if you don't want jackwagon answers.

If you're rating/reviewing more than one product within a single niche or multiple related niches, I highly recommend the Product Review WordPress theme. I bought it recently (a little over a week ago) and am migrating a website to it as I write this post.

I tested it extensively on a testing domain and it did pretty much everything I wanted. It's not too hard to customize it if you know some basic html, PHP, and CSS.

It's easy to use, but what sold me were the built-in graphics, layout, and navigation. It's ideal for a review site. It's much, much better graphically speaking than anything I could do or wish to attempt. I prefer spending my time writing and researching.

That said, if you're reviewing a single product only on your site, I don't think this theme is ideal. It's designed to rate more than one product in a niche or several niches - the reviews are in relation to other products in a niche (which I do).

I've scoured the web for over 9 months looking for a great review theme. I've also tried many plugins and was never satisfied.

The Product Review WP Theme is much easier to use when building a site from scratch. If you plan to migrate from an established review site theme (as I'm doing now), some of the following plugins may be useful:

P2P converter: to convert posts to pages if you have non-review posts. The Product Review WordPress Theme is configured in a way that the reviews are published as posts. So, if you have many non-review articles (as I do), then the P2P converter makes it a snap to convert posts to pages.

Batch Cat plugin: This review theme also requires certain categories if you have a multi-niche review site (as I do). If you need to change many categories, this plugin makes it a breeze to change many posts' categories quickly.

Dean's Permalinks Migration: When you change posts to pages, your URL may change (depending on the permalinks structure you had). This plugin redirects inbound links to your new page URLs if they change (I didn't need this because my new pages' URLs from existing posts remained the same).

SEO Data Transporter: If your existing site is using a theme with built-in SEO (as mine did) and you don't want to have to go back into each post after changing themes and inputting all the SEO meta data, get this plugin. It works for several theme platforms. The Product Review WP theme has an SEO plugin, but I decided not to use it and instead transported SEO meta data to All In One SEO Plugin to save me a boatload of time re-entering all the SEO meta data.

Note, there's no support forum (unless I'm mistaken; I believe this theme's creator posted above and can correct me on this - advanced apology if I'm wrong), but if you're familiar with WP themes, it's not hard to figure out. I'm doing just fine tweaking it for my needs.

      It's worth checking out.

I recommend Thesis. This does not look "wordpressy" at all. It is coded properly, too.

WP Review Engine is OK, this is a Home Staging site I'm in the process of creating for a client. Instructions seem to be limited, but seems to be a decent looking theme.
