Is there an easy way to change domain registration

One domain name is getting a little expensive. I can't recall exactly its origins but they have invoiced me $75 for one year - a bit ridiculous - I'm considering letting it go but I do like the name - standbymyproducts.com- but not at that rate. Is there a way to change registrars that charge much normal pricing for registrations? My 20 or so other domains average $12 per year.
Any help appreciated.
Mike

Some extensions like .tv, .co are more expensive.

Namecheap .com prices are about $9.98

Indeed ... and it may be that that was exactly what Mike was referring to in his OP. It can hardly be $75 for a year's registration-only renewal of a normal TLD, I think (if it is a normal TLD)?

Further input from the OP would clearly help.

If you want to transfer the domain-name registration to Namecheap or elsewhere, Mike, check carefully first that it's transferable from its present registrar. Sometimes, when it's very close to renewal-time, they turn out not to be. But if it is, it's relatively easy to open a Namecheap account and "transfer in" your domain-name there from another registrar, and Namecheap does have on-screen instructions (as well as friendly live "Support-chat", if needed) explaining exactly how to do that.

Lastly - remember that it's never right to register and host a domain in the same place.

    Mike,

I hope you didn't fall for the "renewal scam", whereby you receive a fake invoice in the mail, asking you to renew for $75 or "risk losing your domain".

Make sure you only renew at a legitimate registrar.
