Flippa - .com .net .org does it make a difference?

Just wanted to know if any of you experienced flippers see any difference between .com extensions and sub prime domain extensions when it comes to sales... Any input would be greatly appreciated... Thanks!

.com will always have more value. .net and .org are a wash, with .net being better for commercial sites. All other TLDs come after that.

It's better to you use .com if you want to sell the site there.

.com is definitely the best out there just because it is the most common. When someone says a keyword and they want to put an extension after it they will most likely say '"keyword" dot com' more than they would say '"keyword" dot net'

I have only used flippa once and it seems that .com is still the king.
But now I have been hearing about .co
This is supposed to be for companies and is expected to come in second after .com

Very true and that is exactly what I was coming here to say.

I have 47 domain names everyone is a .com Have had a couple of the others but its not really worth considering whether you are keeping or selling the site. Whatever your name is, if you have anything other than the .com someone else (who owns the .com) will be getting a portion ofyour traffic. If the .com is not available I always search for another keyword combination rather than plump for a .net or .org. In my view ts only worth consideration if there is an awful lot of traffic to that keyword, enough to permiate well through the other TLDs

    regards
    George

With specific and limited exceptions, for "normal purposes" a .com will always have better chances of achieving a better price, just because so many people believe (totally wrongly but that doesn't matter in this context) that they're easier to do SEO for, look better, and so on.

Other things being equal, a .com will just have more potentially interested purchasers, and that's often reflected in the sale price achieved.

That said, clearly something like facetio.us is going to be worth far, far more than facetio.com.

The "obvio.us" ones all are, I'm afraid. There are still some inventive, imaginative ".me" domain-names registrable, though.

I agree with you. Domain hacks always get a better price. I have seen many going for big amounts.

I have sold a few sites and i feel it wont make a difference if your site is .com or .org or .info.

At the end of the day what matters is the site itself. The money it is making.

If you are trying to flip a new site with potential then make sure its isnt a .info tld.

Well I would say it ultimately depends on the income of the site, but at the same time I think subconsciously someone would bid higher on a .com

As has been mentioned above, a .com will almost always be valued higher than the other extensions when flipping a site/domain on flippa, or anywhere else for that matter. The general hierarchy goes like this:

    1: .com
    2: .net
    3: .org

Of all the domains, I'd venture to say that the .info is probably ranked the lowest of all in terms of pricing, though that does not mean it is useless/worthless. It's just that its commercial value on the market is lower than the others - but don't forget that a .info domain can still be monetized very well in spite of its general market valuation.
