Blogpost tooobig for Facebook Help

When I do a blog post, it is usually too big to go into the Facebook status box. FB keeps wants to keep putting it into my Notes. As far as I know Notes do not go out to my friends. And I have a very hard time finding my Notes when I look for them. Never mind somebody just browsing.
I have tried posting part of the blog post and a link to the rest of it on my blog. This is VERY hard work. And this is not a good way of communicating.
By the time I edit it down to the required 420 (?) characters, it makes very little sense.
I do it but at this stage, I would like to smarten my act. This nonsense is slowing me down.
If you have run into this problem you will know what I mean.
Can anybody suggest a solution?
