Over 1.7 BILLION Results - 1.8 MILLION Google Searches a Month - My Site: #1 - So whats the problem?

Ok.. So I have a very, very ugly and under-developed wp blog that I have created to support my main squeeze page. I have utilized some very basic SEO strategies and I just checked and I am in the #1 spot on Google, #2 on Bing, and #3 on Yahoo! - It's awsome but there's a BIG PROBLEM!

I'm NOT getting any traffic!

Now my offer needs some work.. but still, shear numbers should say that I see atleast some traffic..

I am hoping you guys will help me fine tune this so I can start seeing some conversions.

here are the screen shots:

The GOOGLE Search Results:

Ok. now for the Search Volume:

And now the ugly facts: my Traffic Report

I'm no expert - but could Google be showing you results for "Online Jobs" instead of your exact keyword Onl9?

To be honest, I'm always on creative little tricks like how you've said "Onl9", but that particular one I've never seen or heard - and I'm pretty clued up with the popular terms - so It might be because nobodys heard of it?

I hope this helped, like I said: I'm no expert yet - I can only give you my thoughts.

All the best with it anyway brother,

So.. you can't trust the results Google gives you for search volume?

      Put it in Exact terms

i.e. [onl9 jobs] and you'll see why your getting low traffic
I thought that was one of the "keys" to finding keywords you can rank for easily? You find keywords with little "true competing pages" and high search volume..

I'm pretty sure my research shows I found a freakin gold mine.. So what is the piece of the puzzle I'm missing?

Can you NOT trust google analytics? Is there another step in my keyword research I'm missing?

You did your keyword research using 'broad' match. Exact match puts the number at 16.

I'm sorry.. could you please elaborate?

Why would google have different search results for the same keyword term?

thats seems like over complicating it..

      If you enter: "internet marketing"

it should tell you the search volume regardless of any variables right?

I mean someone searching for "internet marketing" is searching for just that..

If "onl9 jobs" doesn't get any search volume then why have ANYTHING in place that would make it appear different?

So.. how do I avoid this fatal flaw?

Tom, nothing in life is that simple.

Of course there are variables. There are variables in everything. People looking for 'onl9 jobs' will be putting those words in with other words, such as 'find the best onl9 jobs', ' find onl9 jobs', etc. That's where you get the millions of results from.

However, there are only 16 people who just type in 'onl9 jobs' with nothing else.

    Well dang..

I sure tell you what though, that was one hell of feeling seeing my page #1 with SOOO MANY other results!

I thought I had finally done it!.

That's ok.. I just learned something so definitely a step in the right direction. nd I also learned that Google definitely reacts to the tried and trusted basic SEO methods used for years!

I can't wait to get moving forward.. thank you guys!

Sorry if that was a newb mistake, but none of the courses actually mention clicking that little "exact match" radio button in googles keyword tool. I better go check my other domains i purchased.. lol

      Mine does.

Don't worry Tom. You've learned a valuable lesson and won't make the same mistake again.

it also seems to me that because of this, that you have to be extra careful using keyword tools like market samurai or the SAT (super affiliate technology, aka mass money makers)

I don't believe they make this distinction. They will only put the keyword in "" but this case study shows that would produce some flawed results.. although maybe rare.. but still a flaw that could cost $$$ in domain reg, site building, articles and distribution, backlinking.. blah blah blah
