Okay so here's a little poll and I want you guys to be honest.

We all hear about all the massive success people are having but it popped my mind recently that how many people actually have a business that is paying for itself?

I am making a profit each month. I don't see how someone couldn't be profiting if they just stay focused and plan their expenses from the start. There are great opportunities to make money without too much expense.

Budget, budget, budget. Having any kind of business it's imperative to plan your expenses and keeping your overhead low. There are marketers out there who have success however continue to spend irresponsibly, impulse buying products that pop up from time to time thinking it's going to explode their business. Focus on your business goals, budget so much money per month, evaluae, then readjust your budget next month.

I am extremely careful about my IM expenses, and rarely splurge on tools/resources (especially those that have recurring billing), so I'd never put myself in a situation where I'm spending more than what I have coming in from my IM activities.

Budgeting and controlling costs is really important in IM, because there are so many different tools, courses and resources that can part you from your money. I always ask myself this fundamental question before getting anything: will it immediately and directly benefit what I'm doing right now? If the answer is no, then I'll hold off until the answer is a definite 'yes'.
