2 Clickbank Sales (But I didn't promote the product?) Can I see the site from which the sales came?

hey warriors,

They are the 1st 2 sales I've made with CB, so I'm happy about that, but really confused about the origin of the sale?(I really think it's a mistake or an error on CB's part)

I remember looking at the products "sales page" a few days back, but don't believe I actually made a link for the product on my sites?

is there a way that within CB I can see where the sale originated? from what site the clicks came from?

I didn't see it going through their analytics? thought maybe I just don't know where to look?

thank you!

Dano~

    • hey raindance,

I know I probably should take the posture of "why do I care"
But I wanted to know what promotion was working from what site...

and I am rather new to getting traffic to any of my sites
I really don't even have but a few dozen clicks at this point
so it does strike me as odd?

I just got off the link with CB, and they see one of the sales
last tracked to an "email" I don't even do email marketing at this
point, so it certainly is strange... we thought maybe an affiliate
incorrectly spelled his ID and accidentally put mine instead with a mild
      mispell....

it is odd to say the least!

    • He should care. If he can track his results, he can focus on driving even more sales from that source or method. Knowing where to spend your marketing money is one of the primary objectives of good marketing and promotion practices.

Questions are how we learn. Better to ask than not.

  • I heard about product owners that were buying there own stuff with other peoples
affiliate name to increase their gravitiy and attract more affiliates.

    That might be it.

    • wow!

but you'd think they would pick someone who has made sales I wonder, I doubt, well anyway certainly is odd to say the least

I somehow feel that's not it... and I have so few links on my sites I just checked and I don't see it?

anyway certainly is very very odd

    • I had the same thing happen recently...definitely never promoted this product, and it was brand new, AND it was a product that has had sooooo many complaints.

I'd love to say the name, because about 5 thousand people here would say "yah! exactly!", but of course, its not allowed.

  • Please correct me if I am wrong but I thought if you go into your Clickbank and click on 'Reporting' and then 'Transactions' it will show up the information you are looking for. One of the columns there is called 'Vendor'.

Once you know the vendor you can just search Google for "vendor.hop.clickbank.net" and you will quickly see what product all those links are leading to.

You can also then search Google for "AFFILIATE.VENDOR.hop.clickbank.net" using your affiliate id in place of the word 'affiliate' and see if your link comes up at all. Chances are if they are doing this with a lot of affiliates then they are not encoding the links as this is a manual process. The links would be created dynamically so you might be able to find where your link has been posted.

    • no my link didn't show anywhere, actually felt a little strange doing that....

but now that they gave me 2 free sales, I feel obligated to promote their product. I mean I am selecting a few products to write articles about anyway, certainly by doing what he did you have built an instant "loyalty" with a prospective affiliate

No, the sale will not show the definite point of origin, like for example the site the sale was made from. The rep from CB also stated that, although he was able to tell one originated from email, and I don't do email marketing at this point...

  • It will be pretty tough to do unless you added a tracking code to the CB referral link. Best thing to do is stop wondering and start promoting the product. This time you can track your marketing and promotion efforts.
  • Keep us posted Dano

  • Hi

I am not quite sure if you can know where the sale came from(site), but you can find out which country guy bought it.

I know it wouldnt be helpful, but it can be!
  • Damn lucky man! Good luck! Yes, it helps to find the source of traffic so that you can increase the sales.
  • lol Sounds like a product I need to promote. Everyone loves free money. Though unfortunately, as was already mentioned, they will probably all refund if this is just some sort of gimmick that the seller is using.
  • If your link is on a website or redirect you should be able to track the traffic through your hosting account can you not
  • Be interesting to see how this pans out

...Just hope you're not swiping my sales that's all!

  • I think that someone else is promoting that product and his clickbank id may be similar to yours and so there is a spelling mistake.

    Enjoy till you can.
  • And making sure you put the RIGHT username in your affiliate link ;-)

    • you know today I'm up to 5 sales! lol

4 are actually counted, and one is "lying in wait" apparently
CB's update delays, or perhaps it may never be counted (it might be the same one from yesterday)

The most embarrassing part? is that I actually made their leaderboard!
is this the lazy man's way to riches or what!!! lol!

you know I laugh about this situation but it really is oddly motivating
      I am dead serious....

at this point still don't definitively know what to attribute it too
I still have money on the idea that it's not an error, but that he is simply channeling money to an affiliate(me) or to "affiliates" either way he wins because it shows as a sale to him and boats his leaderboard, kicks up his gravity...this is just my guess, or they are his "general sales" and therefore he doesn't lose much by "dooling them out" and it's ultimately a "win win" for him

I just happen to be one of the lucky ones

      dano~ (I ain't complaining!)
  • Ha ha
Brill. 2 sales without any work...now that is passive income...working on autopilot....set and forget...and any of the other phrases the gurus are using.

Now if you could get that into a WSO you could make a few more sales.

    Good luck

    • It may not have helped identify this source in the case of the OP. But you should always include a tracking ID in your affiliate links. Use a different ID as an extension for each landing page for example. These are easily added when generating your affiliate link from the CB website. This has happened to me on occasion from web pages I haven't promoted in years, but have no idea where they came from.
