How I went from $0 to $34/ a day in 60 days with Free Information

Hi all.

If you're not familiar with LMC's thread about his 235 website empire, take a look and then come back.

I've messed around with Affiliate Programs, CPA, and Facebook Marketing over the last few year but with little results.

The thread listed above seemed easy enough so I thought I would try buying a few domains, setting up a couple of blogs and see what happens. I even had to re-activate my CJ account because it had been dormant so long.

I did some keyword research with the Google keyword tool and bought a few domains for a niche that interested me. I bought 3 domains with exact match keywords that were getting monthly search volume in the 1000-1500 a month range.

I was off work for 10 days in December so I deconstructed what LMC was doing as best I could and went at it building WP sites around the keywords.

Step 1: Build out the sites and do the best on-page article creation that I could. Each site got 3 posts written by me.

Step 2. I bought article/submission services for all 3 sites from .99 Cent articles. Traffic started trickle in to all 3 sites but one of them was getting a sale every 2-3 days in January.

I decided to do some more backlinking myself by commenting on relevant blogs and voila: All 3 sites were showing up on page 1 of Google for their keywords.

To be fair, only one of the sites is really converting, but that one site is on its way to make $1000 this month.

Here's a shot from my CJ Account:

Shoot - I can't post the image because I haven't posted enough, but it's sitting at $579.28 so far this month.

And here are additional sales from another network:

2/3/2011 06:31:21 26.39
2/8/2011 09:34:09 32.99
2/8/2011 17:16:14 23.99
2/11/2011 13:42:16 37.50
2/14/2011 17:42:17 32.99
2/22/2011 16:06:37 23.99

So the formula here is simple:

1. Keyword research your niche and get .com domains that are exact match keywords.

2. Create content with content about your chosen niche.

3. Ensure decent backlinks through article marketing and comments with backlinks on relevant sites.

Okay, that's taking the wrong kind action...instead of buying, you should be implementing! The OP took a post here and ran with it without spending a dime - he didn't buy a guide or course, instead he just took the initiative to read through that long thread and deconstruct it the best way he knew how!

How did you go about analyzing the competition for the keywords?

Did you just put the words in quotes and look for a certain number?

Also, was the keywords long tail or product names?

I just checked to see if any exact match domains were available and showed up in the first two pages of results.

The strong performer contains a product name, the other two are more long tail.

    Okay, for clarification,

"Step 1: Build out the sites and do the best on-page article creation that I could. Each site got 3 posts written by me.

Step 2. I bought article/submission services for all 3 sites from .99 Cent articles. Traffic started trickle in to all 3 sites but one of them was getting a sale every 2-3 days in January."

So you bought 3 domains and then set up the websites. Then you wrote 3 posts for each site. Next, you bought one article for each site from 99 cents. And finally, you posted in some blogs for the backlinks.

    Is that correct?

(BTW, I read LMC's thread and got lost in what now may be something very simple to me so your putting it into SUCCESSFUL action is very inspiring to me, so thank you.)

I'm wondering if I can do this type of marketing with Squidoo lenses. They're free and they want you to start 1,000 of them. Would it work? I think I'll try 10 and see what happens.

Within a week after the back linking.

I did everything myself (except the article submissions) for that first site.

I built another one this past weekend and outsourced the backlinking on fiverr this time as well. It's already on page one out of 1.6M results

Sean, when banklinking, especially if you're outsourcing it, try not to overdo it (i.e. get a 5,000+ backlink package) right after building the site, as that could possibly get you into trouble with Google.

Congratulations! You took massive action over 10 days during your break, and you're reaping the rewards now. It's really not that complicated to rank these simple sites, and the real key is to do proper keyword research to ensure that it's potentially profitable before you even start working on anything.

Also, I'd want to mention that the .com TLD isn't really necessary for ranking purposes, you can use any exact match TLD and still have an equal chance of ranking on the first page of Google.

I can't seem to get any of my backlinks to show up. Maybe they are all there - I use Traffic Travis for my search.
      I bought a package of 1000.

I'm selling physical products. it's not CPA or Amazon.

Some of the articles link directly, some do not. No advertising at all.

Sean, thanks so much for sharing what you've achieved. I only just joined today and have been researching exactly what you described so this is very inspiring. I just need to get my head around back linking and a few other concept and I'll be away.

Great thread. You have encouraged me to give this technique another shot. I get how to do this technique. I just don't know how to go about getting the back links in a cost effective way.

Its a pretty easy concept but you have to stick at it.

Do keywords research - This is one of the most important things and should not be taken lightly.
        Write good unique content
        backlink from relevent sites

Do this and google will love you

It must be alot of work to monitor all of those domain names to ensure that they dont expire and maintain so many sites all at once. The rewards are excellent though, I have a friend who makes about $20K a month doing the same thing with multiple sites

    Hi all.

Thanks for all of the positive feedback. I'm currently in the "rinse and repeat" mode so I'm not spending too much time here on WF for the moment.

For those who have sent PMs asking for the site, I'd really prefer not to put the domain out there since it's my only one monetizing at the moment.

I'll share more as I get more sites up, ranked, and monetized.

    Thanks again!

How many CJ products are you promoting on each of the sites?

Did you write reviews for the actual products or did you just write general articles on the niche?

  • Have you built a list of subscribers from these sites? You should have an opt-in so that you can capture all those hits and possibly convert them into leads for selling later on.

Great to hear it man. I'm actually another of LMC's "disciples" who was inspired by all the info in that thread he made. Hadn't done anything in IM previously. We're just about to clear the $1k/mo mark too.

It's been harder for us to rank than it seems it was for you. We've had to throw everything and the kitchen sink to get sites to rank, because the blogroll links just don't move sites like maybe they used to when LMC was ranking his sites. The only way I can see those working now is if you have a vast quantity of them, which would certainly blow up that $50-100 SEO budget he had, even when you find a discount supplier for under $4/link.

I personally didn't particularly follow that method, though I certainly ate up that thread. But I am seeing the same thing in niche site building, it just seems you need a whole lot of those infernal backlinks, even for the simplest niche. And if there's one thing I hate, it's backlinking...

Perhaps it could also have something to do with the recent Google algorithm changes, making it a necessity to provide higher quality and/or more content on-site in order to rank?

^Yeah, our experience was that 10 blogroll links did very little to boost rankings, and they cost more than other services which worked better for us.

Nice 500th post btw, we were planning to do that in a particular niche later this year, but maybe we'll start experimenting now.

Yeah, I've got a load of blogs on free services like Blogspot that I set up when I first got into IM and was setting up one blog after the other and not following through with any of them Anyway, some of those now have a little bit of PR, so I usually put new sites of mine on the blogroll of these for some instant juice, but to be honest I am not seeing much of an effect, even though that's an instant 200 links or whatever! Actually, I was surprised at the time that LMC mentioned that method as I remember YEARS back now (hmm, maybe 2007 ) people saying this sort of site-wide link just didn't cut it anymore.

Got any hints about services that are working for you (not wanting to hijack this thread, but I think it's relevant)? I have used a few blog networks that drip out spun articles for you, and am still in two minds as to whether a lot of those links are even sticking. Good old article backlinks still seem to be working best for me.

    Sean
I'm a complete IM newbie and have been scouring this forum for the last few days. I have one question for you that has been confusing me. When you choose a product to promote from CJ are you choosing one based on a niche market keyword that you have found or is it the other way around? When you created your three sites around the niche markets did you already have the products chosen? Sorry for such an elementary question. I'm sure the answer is obvious to everyone else. Thanks for a great post!
