Squeeze page vs Sales page

Hi,
I'm in a small niche but I am the dominant site in it.
I sell products to help triathletes get better in swimming.

For a few years, I had a sales letter for my home page which sold my DVD, and the upsell page they can add waterproof cards and an ebook.

I have another site which has my blog, and an opt-in box.

Sales have tailed off in the last year, and so have opt-ins, and my bounce rate was 90% on the sales letter.

So I re-did the sales funnel, I created a 7-series autoresponder with TONS of value, they get 5 pdfs, and I created a cool 2 minute video which explains what they get. I made this video/opt-in page my home page, and opt-ins went from about 4 a day to 25 a day!

I thought I was set.

BUT, several days later, I had NO sales, 0! Autoresponder is solid, good story-telling email and high quality content, a couple of promotions for my stuff, but nobody is buying.

So now, I'm forced to go back to the old format which produced poor results, but at least I had income.

Any ideas on how to convert those higher number of opt-ins I was getting?

Thanks,
Kevin

How are you offering them the product. My suggestion would be to not try to sell to them at all but instead make it a recommendation. With out know much about your actual email series it is hard to say as to why they are not buying. Offer a few other related to your niche an opertunity to sell your product for 100% profit then in turn make the book pooint them to your sales page to buy the complete book. Run some ad swaps to boost sales. There are a numbe of things that you can do at this point. However first lets just focus on what type of list you have. By understanding more about how you are trying to sel to your list can make all the difference in the world.

If it's a good product why don't you offer a 1 dollar trial? And if they stay a member after so many days, they'll be charged the full amount.

Also, Why don't you try giving bonuses with it? The trick is here, is to make your bonuses more valuable than the actual product itself.

It's like me saying if you buy this old ford escort of me, I'll also throw in a ferrari enzo and a lamborghini gallardo as a way of saying thanks.

I know it's a little over the top but the trick is to actually make the your prospect think they're getting one up on you and they would be a fool to turn your offer down.

Or even better... why don't you combine the both?

And also try to contact those people whom you had sales so if it with be okay with them to add up a testimonial or feedback about what they bought from you.

How about offer a free PDF as an enticement on the squeeze page and build a relationship with them so eventually when you ask them to buy they will be likely to do so

With your autoresponder series, it sounds like you were providing tons of value, but did you have any strong calls to action in there urging your list to buy your products?

Stop giving away too much of free stuff - breeds a free mentality with the list and they will think twice about paying...a little is good but too much is bad. Make sure your auto-responder copy is structured in such a way that it tells a story and each email makes them step a closer to the sale and not a step backward, because whether you like it or not that is exactly what auto-responder copy ends up doing...

If I can be of help...

Have to agree with this. Beware the freegans.

I think it's know as "truth points". Builds empathy and trust.
