What was the biggest thing you had to over come when you started trying to make money online. I think mine was actually trying to find the time to learn the stuff, then apply it.

      Deciding.

Deciding on what aspect of Internet Marketing I would focus on.

Decision-making is a skill in itself.

to decide, like many here, I had to learn research look around study plow through it all the informatin the junk the scams the good the bad and the downright gross sift it out find mentors teachers allies

then connect my skills my passion my interest my profession (before the internet) my future (where i want to go with myself)

All this is a long-drawn out process, the company of us know.

So it came down to deciding:

And the best word on decision-making I've ever heard, was something like:

"...it's not that I worry about making the right decision, it's that I work at making my decision right."

So I've decided. and am committed to make it the right one. ...look out!

      blessings all.

Sarah, this was also one big obstacle for me in the beginning. The internet is like a giant candy store with so many attractive things literally begging for your attention, and it was definitely hard for me to focus initially. It was fairly difficult to treat IM like a business when I first started, as things just didn't seem so "real" when I was initially working in front of the computer unsupervised, with no boss breathing down my neck and no set hours to work - I suppose this would be an issue for just about anyone that has had a job before, as that tends to make you have an "employee" mindset instead of a "business owner" one.

        Hi Jeremy,

The biggest thing many newbies try to overcome is to stop following lots of 'brand new money making products'.

This is not saying that some of the products aren't worth the time and monies but majority of them are mere waste of time.

Take a critical look at the money making ideas on your desk and pick one or two.

The moment you can do that effectively, your income will begin to rise, no doubt.

        All the best,

I want to say this as it may help someone else. I can't pick just one. It's frustrating not getting help from a support system when needed and as a result having to abandon something.
Also I haven't found an easy low cost step by step to tell me completely how to put a simple free book download with a 'before you go' offer on a blog page all with the download or pay buttons required. I've got bits and pieces of info but not in one shot showing how to set up the blog for it. This part is always missing. Lots of instructions say you can do this or this or this..... but not what's best to do and why.
An easy ecover creator software is like hens teeth to me. The one I have goes on the website (thanks Coby).
Does anyone have a solution to these issues?

There are so many shiny new programs promising overnight riches popping up every day and if you're not focused on your business, it's easy to drop what you're doing and chase after the next pretty program.

Not sure if anyone can relate, but, right now, I'm dealing with a group of people who have illegally distributed one of my products to hundreds of people. Now I know how Metallica felt with Napster...

The value created IS the product. It takes alot of work, but products are meant to help people....an exchange in money occurs in return for that value.

This is a big thing in this industry, well in any industry. Its just website security. The way I found is to sell the product on one site and let them get access to it on another site. But heck, I see Mike dillards products out there, Jonathan Budds, Frank Kern, and many others who have Millions of dollars to try and prevent stuff like this. Its just almost impossible to over come this, heck even the movie industries have trouble with piracy

By far it's taking the step to actually take action, and just do it. Also, seeing that others are already doing something similar but being able to say 'Can I do it better?' Someone's always already doing something. But it's not about thinking big, but thinking better. Cause if you always have the mindset that you shouldn't do something because others are already doing it, then you'll never do it.

My biggest obstacle was over thinking things. I would think and think and then think some more about how something just couldn't possibly work. It had to be too good to be true. It wasn't until I just stopped thinking about it and starting doing it that I saw success.

I remember being terrified to create my own product for a niche. I was simply over thinking things. All of the negative things that could go wrong. I put it off for months. Finally I just told myself that I was going to do it. I made myself do it and when I finally launched the damn thing I saw success.

Yes there were negatives, but I learned from them and the mistakes I made then have proven invaluable to my business today. I've heard a billion times, but its true.

Think of it as your job and then answer the following:

-How many widgets did I make today?

-How many cars did I sell today?

-How many bricks did I lay today?

-How many cold calls did I make today?

Yours, and most rookies answers to these questions is probably zero, right? If you held any of the previously mentioned jobs and had zero results for weeks or months do you think you would still be employeed? Probably not.

It's a job so stop reading and start doing. The most valuable lessons I have learned in my life were from mistakes that I made, so get to work and make some mistakes!

The biggest thing I had to overcome is focus so I could say myself.
Once you set a plan in order and work it things become easier to focus.

Approach things online as you would if you were running a physical business because that is what it is you get customers you need to support those customers and you make money in exchange for products or services.

The important thing in this business is to build it so it stands follow a strategic plan and you will do well. Every journey of success starts with the first action

    Fix your stuff.

When you put something out there and it doesn't work, your immediate impulse will be to throw it out and go do something else. This is Very Very Bad. You need to figure out why what you did isn't working, and fix it.

You don't actually learn from making mistakes. You learn from going back and fixing them.

For me, everything changed when I put ALL OF MY ENTIRE FOCUS on generating traffic. Before that, I had put ALL OF MY ENTIRE FOCUS on copywriting & conversions.

      The rest is H I S T O R Y

I'll say this too. I was first just a reader. I'd just read here on the WF and follow people like Mike Filsaime, Dr. Mike, Keith Baxter, others... and just read and paid close attention to what they did.

I was just a reader. That dont bring home the bacon baby.

So, when I got SERIOUS... I took a quantum leap. Then, I got more SERIOUS... and took another quantum leap. THEN, I raised the bar on myself. Could I do a million? I decided to expect it and do it. I then went to those who did a million and picked their brains... like Mike's and John Reese, others.

I then BELIEVED I could do it too. What followed took COURAGE and escaping comfort zones. I did it. Next, I'm shooting for 1 mill per month. Think I can do it??

      I do.

It all started with Mike recommending me to come here to the WF and read, read and learn. That's it. It takes COURAGE. If you currently make 50k per year online, raise your courage level. Raise your aggressiveness. Raise your self-expectations. Be worthy of more money. Money is not the root of all evil and it's a very good thing as long as you provide value. Raise your courage level. Think big.

Ask yourself... what's one big risk you could take that could explode your success/income? One big risk factor? One big giant festering action step that will take you out of your comfort zones and could catapult your income? Can you think of one thing you could do that would catapult you if you took the risk and did it anyway?

Find that one big risk, action step, and then do it! It takes courage. If I had to define success/wealth/achievement into one word, it would be..................COURAGE!

To think back, to when I was a newbie... I was just a member of this forum who would read the warrior stars back then... I"d follow Willie Crawford's posts, John Taylor, Dr. Mani, Brian Kumar, Mike Filsaime, Robert Puddy, John Reese, Allen of course, many others... and just read their posts and archived posts. I'd buy their products and follow them.

I was just like many here reading this today. After you take plenty of action, long enough, and escape comfort zones, long enough, it's amazing how much you change and how much of an authority you become --- without even really trying to be.

      Courage My Friends... it's courage!

      Now, get to work!

My own mindset and the previous negative programming inside my head. Having a can do attitude and always looking at a more positive angle has helped and certainly a key factor in any future success.

Mine was definitely lack of attention to a certain task or project. I was always jumping from product to product until I realized that it was leading me nowhere.
After I got more focused and gave a project at least 6 months to see whether it works or not... I became much more successful.

Having great success out of the gate, getting life threatening cancer, taking more than a year to beat it, and coming back to find it's a very changed place as Google really began to dominate.

Starting over from scratch sucks but being alive to be able to do it is pretty cool.

    Focus. Focus. Focus.

WF is a great resource but I would bet more marketers get side-tracked here when looking for help... I know I'm guilty of that.

    Focus.

I had to overcome believing that no one would want to purchase the information I had available. Once I got that first sale it was on from there.

For me, mindset "making money online won't work" is the biggest thing I should overcome.
It should be "making money online is easy and fast".

I think mine was information overload. I really wanted to quit but something urged me to stay. I'm happy I did it.

The biggest thing for me to overcome is the thought of not being successful in IM. Still trying to get over that one. You can only put in so much hard work before you want to throw in the towel. One of these day's I'll get the nerve to ask for a site review.

    Hi,
You just have to focus on your positioning. Market your product in a smart way so that you can stay for long time. In this fast moving age when there is a great competition in market, your positioning is very important by satisfying your customers with your product and retain them.

The biggest obstacle I overcame was realizing I didn't have to learn everything myself. It's way too tempting when you first start. I discovered I could build a team of freelance specialists. Strengthen your strengths and delegate your weaknesses.

I also realized that having a mentor / coach who's where you want to be can fast-track your learning and desired income by years. It's about being resourceful.
