"Grow Up
...Charles, grow up!"
Today is the day I grow up in Internet Marketing...
My mentor put out a great product this weekend. I felt that normal rush of heat one feels when they see a WSO that they promise themselves that they are going to use. I started telling myself the same set of lies that I do at times. "I am going to put the sales page up TONIGHT, and start RSSsing tommorrow for traffic".
But no. Today I grow up. 200 posts and one year later, I have figured it out.
"You have to stop buying stuff, Charles. You are on the wrong end of the table, stupid. How can a college professor be so silly? You need to get on the side of the table offering thngs; at some point, you have to stop spending money on 'education'; and learn by doing."
The more I do, the more I learn, the more I learn and do, the more I make. That is probably not original or even fully right, but it will have to do.
For a while at least, I am going to try to figure out what these people are DOING and imitate them. Heck, if I don't get any sales out of that, I will learn what works and what doesn't. I have spent one calendar year buying cheap courses, expensive courses, WSOs, PLR, ebooks, hardback books, paperback books, Software tools, Secret Trainings, etc. I do no regret any minute of it. However, I would like to have a WSO that I start called, "Do you wanna know how I made $XXX in 7 days?" If I am ever to do that, I have just figured out after one year what I have to do:
Learn and do;
test and measure,
then learn and do.
So I have decided to watch the response to my mentor's product and then figure out how I can put my own twist on something like it and get on the other side of the table. My achilles heel is clearly that I like to learn, etc.
So I am sitting on my wallet for a bit. This has nothing to do with the 'downturn'.
I know I will be tempted. I am trying to resist Alex Mondossian's teleseminar secrets as we speak. Just kidding, really.
So here is my new rule. I will not buy any new products unless I make a good faith effort to sell two of my own, even if it is on ebay. I will not get on new lists unless I try grow or start a new one of my own. When I come to the WF, I am coming to learn and conribute.
Makes you wonder whether 'newbie' means that you haven't made much money or you haven't been on long in calendar time. Maybe it should be defined around making money rather than calendar time.
Again, I digress.
