Stuffing HYPE down people's throats kills long term biz

So,

I've always been an advocate of human business. That basically means that while doing business as a web entrepreneur, you should do the following:
  1. Have an actual presence (pictures, videos, audios) on your website.
  2. Communicate directly with potential buyers, visitors and subscribers.
  3. Give a crap.

I've also, through heavy experimentation, realized that overhyping something (a term I just coined, right now), only works for one thing: fooling amateurs.

Don't get me wrong, there's a fine line between overhyping and ensuring you're expressing, through your copy, the magnificent benefits of your.. product or whatever, but once you cross that line into the red zone, it's hard to take you seriously.

Whenever you have to ask yourself, "am I being genuinely truthful in the expectation I'm projecting of my product," or "am I BSing the crap out of someone right now," it's time to pause and reflect.

Long term perspectives usually win in any kind of business. I would, and I'm sure most of you would think.. "well that's painfully obvious," but what may be obvious to those of us who look past making a quick buck, may not be for those who don't.

Ultimately (I actually do talk like this in real life, LOL), the lesson I LEARNED, and I'm trying to convey here, is that too much hype, may make you look like an amateur in a proficient expert's eyes.

What do you guys think?
