Having a Squeeze Page & a Wordpress Blog on a Single Domain Name

This may not be rocket science to some warriors, but I thought I'd share it anyway so that it might help some newbie's who didn't realize that this was possible.

I have a squeeze page that fits on my domain name that I drive traffic too, but if you didnt realize, you can also use that same domain name (with a sub page) for a full wordpress blog.

Firstly, go to your cpanel and upload your domain name if you havent already done that. The domain name needs to be there to have wordpress loaded onto it, although you aren't going to actually load wordpress onto the main domain name

What you then need to do, is download a piece of software to allow you to edit HTML pages. I like to use Kompozer as it's free and does everything I need it to do.

Then download some free squeeze pages. (If you do a google search, you'll find some 1 page templates for squeeze pages)

If you dont have a free product you can giveaway yet, try and find something that you can have free giveaway or resell rights to, and use that, or else you could create your own product, or even reword some plr product to make it your own.

Now that you have the product, the squeeze page, and the ability to customize your squeeze page with a product like Kompozer, you're almost ready to go. (I'm assuming for the purposes of this that you have an autoresponder service setup already- if not go to Aweber, and join for $1 for the first month. You need an autoresponder in order to be able to collect leads)

Anyway, you now need to customize the squeeze page, with your own headline, giveaway offer, and aweber opt in form. Once you are happy with this, you now need to upload this to your own domain name. (I'm assuming you've already gone to somewhere like godaddy, and purchased a domain name, as well as also purchased hosting from a hosting provider- if you need more info about this, please PM me)

Now you need an ftp server (File Transfer Protocol). This enables you to upload your squeeze page to your domain name. Use filezilla for this as again its free and works well.
Your squeeze page needs to be called index.html in order for it to show on your site. You will also need to ftp a download page for your giveaway product, as well as a thank you page, and you will also need to ftp upload your giveaway pdf product, and any images.

Now your squeeze page should be live and working (please test it to ensure all the pages load as they should, and even test out the aweber form to ensure everything arrives as its supposed to)

Now go back to Kompozer, and create another page, what's on it doesn't really matter too much as you wont be using this content that you create on Kompozer. Called this 'blog' and save it to a folder on your computer. (It will end up being saved as 'blog.html'

Now go to filezilla, and log in, now on the right hand side locate the files that are your squeeze page, and then on the left hand side locate the new 'blog.html' file you created. Drag this to the domain name folder, and make sure it gets copied.

Next, you need to open up your cpanel again and click on Wordpress under popular choices. This will give you option to do a new installation which you click on, when asked which domain to install on, choose the domain name you are working on.Where it says 'install in directory' write the word 'blog' (without the speech marks) and then fill in the rest of the details, admin password, etc as you want them.
Click 'install wordpress' and you're good to go.

Once all done (and you've remembered to email yourself a copy of the setup) yoiu should see it as a 'current instaaltion' in your list, just click on 'vist site' and then enter your admin area as normal, and start changing themes, plugins, etc.

This way you will now have a squeeze page on your main domain (www.yourdomain.com) that you can promote and send traffic to, as well as a blog (www.yourdomain.com/blog.html) that you can update whenever you want, and that will have the ability to rank in the search engines better. You can even provide a link back to your squeeze page, which should help drive extra traffic to it.
