Buying Articles or Content? Read This Warning Now

It is VERY easy to beat Copyscape and I never use it as a way to check articles. You can simply change every 4th word (or misspell every 4th word, common with the $1/500 word articles) . Copyscape also only checks with the one search engine (last time I checked), so scammers can grab content from non-indexed material and use that.

When a seller of content over emphasizes that their material will pass/beat copyscape and that is their leading point of their salesmanship, I run the other way.

Copyscape free material is a lot different than plagiarism free material, and if you ask your writers that and they don't understand the difference, run away.

I feel sure this is very good advice.

If a service provider feels the need to mention "Copyscape", something's wrong.

In all the time that I was writing for others, the word was never mentioned once by me on my site, in any email or conversation; nor was it ever asked about or referred to by a single client at all.

Call me a skepchick, but to me, it's kind of similar to all those scammy "business opportunities" that spend the first three paragraphs telling you how "legitimate" they are: all they're doing is raising your awareness that they might not be. Something that is legitimate doesn't need to harp on about it in such a suspicious way.

All I did was a routine check and sometimes it found some random 4 word combinations that I happened to use that were also used by other websites. Considering that some of those are just common that isn't a major surprise and I think Google knows that and won't penalize you for 4 word duplicates.

Put a few lines of your article in quotes (" ") in Google, Bing and Yahoo.

Much more reliable than CopyScape.

I've had this happen to me as well. Once, I outsourced a dating article, and then submitted it to EZA only to have my account suspended and be accused of plagiarism.

Come to find out, it was a PLR article that was all over the net. Shame on me, however, for not doing Copyscape before submitting.

I guess it's my fault that I trusted someone else would be honest.

I eventually got my account restored after several back and forths with the ornery EZA editors.

They practically made me get on my hands and knees and beg!

Copyscape and past excerpts on Google search engine and see what popups. I always ask for samples of the articles before I purchase. That is one method but still you have to be careful. You dont know what the rest of the article is going to look like.

I might also suggest not spending $3,000 dollars with someone who you haven't done business with before and received good service/products from. I'm not saying you'll never get burnt if you do a smaller test order first, but I think it would lessen the chances of it happening.

Like Mark said, definitely don't spend $3000 like that..

I wouldn't go that far. a safe way to go is Constant Content. their articles have to be original and they are all high quality. A little pricey sometimes, but well worth it. You always know what you are going to get. Isn't it better to pay $35 for 500 words and get top quality original contant than paying someone $10 for 500 words and being unsure of what you get?

  One scam some like to use is to take someone else's content and run it through translating programs.
  
  For example, take an article written in English and using a translator program change it into Japanese or Norwegian. Then use the same or different translator program and change the new language, back into English.

You can buy quality articles, which are original for sure, if you’ll pay their price. For example, at Constant Content you can be sure that all articles are original because CC’s editors are too demanding. They keep rejecting articles if they are not perfect. Even if an author will write a different article about a similar topic he/she is not allowed to repeat the same ideas in a different article. CC keeps 35% from each article an author sells there because they examine everything before accepting each article. This is why they delay 4 to 5 days in order to accept a simple 500 words article. However, you have to pay around $20 -$45 for a short article. CC’s articles are excellent, but they are quite expensive.

Many authors accept customers’ offers. You may be able to pay less money for an excellent article, but your offer must be reasonable in order to be accepted.

Okay, seems like I better don't over-emphasize that my content passes CopyScape anymore. Seriously, I just use it as a last insurance, I never copy any sentence but I got two hits for very common sentences so I changed them.

You really have to think about how much money you spend for your content. I take my time to write articles, to do good research. I want the articles to be well-readable and informative so that people actually want to read them.

There are so many people out there underbidding each other to a point where they either have to rip you off or outsource to barely English-speaking people.

I simply can't afford to work at rates like $ 5 per article because I can write at most 10 to 15 articles a day and I've got bills to pay oh and sometimes my body thinks it needs some nutrition, too. Living in Germany isn't cheap, I've got over $ 1000 to pay for rent, gas, electricty etc. already.

  Finding a good outsourcer to do your article writing can definitely be trial and error, but with a little patience, they can be obtained and at a decent price. Any legitimate writer will be more than willing to provide samples of their work before you hire them.
  
  I found that it's best to start small, and choose one or two at a time to write for you. By continuing to select the writer whose work you like best, you will find a workable situation. Then remember, once you find a writer you like, to treat them well. :>)

Even if something passes copyscape , it still can get rejected by ezinearticles as they don't like content that closely resembles other articles (which I think is a good thing). When I outsource, I always ask someone to use at least 3 sources and I then add a few paragraphs of my own as well .

When I first advertised my writing services on the Warrior Forum I made a big point of saying I would check everything with Copyscape.

Now I just make it clear, I write original content, if you do not trust me, we probably are not a match. Copyscape might be helpful for checking a few things, but I found it to be a tedious waste of time.

Sorry to hear you were burned for $3000. I would not be able to sleep at night after doing that to someone.

I usually submit my articles in the .doc format. If my client opens it in MS-Word, they're probably safe.

But then again, I never knew some people even change single characters... Holy Moses!! The ingeniously creative ways of the bad.

$3000 for articles in one go is too much. I, personally wont spare much cash in a single transaction and I know most of people here wont. There can be an upfront or escrow payments and that can work better than giving every penny for the articles you haven't even approved yet.

I have been sourcing content for 5 years. I started off freelancing alone and then sourced to various online content farms and PLR sites. From a vendor's point of view these are some things you must watch out for while buying content-
1. ALWAYS, I repeat, always ask for published online content. If you can get EZA published samples that'll be best.
2. Copyscape should be used in tandem with Plagium.com or other plagiarism detection tool.
3. Small orders always. Can't stress the importance of this.
4. At the time of ordering you must specify whether you are looking for original articles OR unique. There is a difference- A rewritten article can be unique with no copies on the net. You must specify whether you are looking for a fresh and original view point with researched facts.
5. It'll not be always possible to get references of previous clients as most freelancers ghostwrite. Still, if they are doing this for living they must have a writing portfolio to show you.
6. Its paramount that you must find a reliable content provider to form a long-term relationship. Changing and chopping freelancers to find cheaper deals results in misery I can't even come close to describe.
7. Cheap is NOT always crap. I must have made this point to a thousand people on so many forums. We have been doing $2 articles for a long time and we have been profitably running a team of 6 full-time well-paid writers. You only get scammed buying cheap stuff when the providers are based in dollar economies and can't possibly produce those articles for those cheap rates. Just one hint to assess the provider. Always ask where they are based.

There are tons of PLR articles on the internet, many are free.

1) Grab 2 articles related to your niche
2) Mix them into 1 powerful article
3) Change some text (take your time to change some text)

This just makes it harder for all of us REAL writers. There is also a plan out there that teaches you how to charge double or $2 per 100 words and outsource to others for $1 per 100 words. This is something that a real writer will never have to do. Those of use that are good and real writers get paid extra without even asking for it. I get so sick of these scams that are out there and it is getting a little ridiculous if you ask me.

Hire someone who sells articles at reasonable rates? By reasonable I don't mean $1 for 500 words... I mean paying people what they are really worth.

I find doccop (free) better than Copyscape. The only downside is that you have to wait in the queue and can only scan one article at a time.

I would just like to point out that "something is wrong" may not be the only reason a contractor might mention copyscape. It might also be owing to the fact that at minimum a solid 30% (probably higher) of all contracts posted on the job boards mention that articles must pass copyscape.

These guys are selling their time to you and a perfectly legitimate contractor could be completely reasonable in forming the conclusion that copyscape passage is something thos crazy Americans are into. The only logical thing to do at that point is to let them know he has what they want.

Kinda like what we do here. Find something people want, offer it to them, give them bullet points about it, and so on.
