Walk on video actors & conversion.

I'm thinking of adding one of those walk on video actors to a product I will be releasing shortly. It's in a large niche, and I'd like to do anything I can to have a healthy conversion rate. With that said, has anyone used a walk on video actor for your sales page? If so, what kind of results did you see, as far as conversion goes?

Thanks.

I use them on my sites... of course my sites teach how to do it :-)

However, I also provide encoding and production services for companies that provide walk on video.

It can have a dramatic positive impact on conversion...

However, like anything other people's results have absolutely NO impact on what your own experience will be.

You may even see a decrease in conversion if you don't do it right.

Here are some factors in video that increase conversion:

    1. Personable not dry personality (from your talent)
    2. Message the visitor can identify with
    3. Message that grabs attention because it correctly targets the desires and needs of the visitor
    4. Call to action. It isn't "welcome to my website" videos that boost response. If you use video at all it must tell the visitor what you want them to do next.
    5. Good audio. Don't take a chance on the audio equipment. You can get a way with a lot in the video but if the audio is bad the entire thing sucks.
    6. Don't think like a corporate boob "everyone's got video so we need video" do it because it boosts conversions if it does not take it off.
    7. And to state it in a different way... make your message endearing, personable, and compelling... your audience must identify with it.

Now, having said that most generic out of the box transparent video production services online produce dry generic videos. Make sure whomever you work with you choose someone who will work with you on the script and personality of the message.

One company I produced a video from reported a 12% conversion boost which in their case added $200k a year to their bottom line.

If you are interested in seeing some powerful uses of transparent video there are a few sites using it in my sig.

Josh is 100 per cent correct. And one thing I will add to the list. Make sure your video walk on is 30 seconds or less. anything longer, unless its a demonstration of a walk on won't hold a viewer's interest.

And beware, if you click on a link on the home page and go to another page and then hit the back browser to go back again to the home page, your walk on will refresh and start over.

I used a walk on on my old site (putvoiceonyourwebsite dot com) and it generated extra business, but its not being used on my new site.
