How much should I charge?

Hello Warrior Forum, thanks for having me. I am new to Internet Marketing but have the skills to do a lot of it. If someone wants to hire me as a virtual assistant 4 - 6 hours a week long term what is a fair rate? My responsibilities would include: traffic generation (back-linking and blog commenting), online research, blog content, articles for article marketing, and reviews and press releases.

Also what is the best way to get paid? Track my time spent working, report them, then get paid via paypal?

It depends on what you can do within a certain period of time... If I am the customer, I will not pay in an hour basis.. I will pay for the number of articles written of the number of backlinks built....

If you are relatively new to this, I would go to Odesk.
They provide the monitoring you are looking for. After you develop a relationship with a customer, you will probably start getting paid more and begin to have more freedom etc...

One more question: If you arent using a service like odesk, how do you ask them to pay you?

You're just beginning at this aren't you?

You better have a verified paypal account.

This involves opening an account at paypal.com and having a credit card or debit card attached in the account.

Then you just give your paypal email to the person who's supposed to pay you.

If all goes well then you can receive the money in your paypal account.

Ok Ill break it down. How much would you charge per item completed for:
    1) each back-link and blog comment
    2) each topic researched online
    3) each blog content
    4) each article for article marketing
    5) each review or press release

Ive been reading through the forum and all I have found so far is quotes for craigslist posts 50 - 70 cents per post.
Im dong this job to learn so I am in it more for the experience than the money.

Usually, the above items are offered as package.

      Example:

      5 pr5 permanent backlink for $20
      5 pr5 approved blog comments for $10
      1 pr5 blog review of 350 words for $15
      1 500-word article for $6 to $10
      1 press release for $6

      something like that...............

It depends upon your qualification and knowledge about work. For example a normal SEO person charge $4 to $50-60 per hour but a coder or programmer charges more...obviously.

    Johnny,

what's your past work experience? Any accreditations or schools finished?

Got knowledge or experience in either the tasks you're going to perform, or the subject these articles/comments/press releases should be about? Are you a good researcher?

    To give some numbers...

For high-level research, including contacting people and businesses offline (phone, face-to-face), I pay around $50/hr.

For 'grunt-work' like blog commenting and such, I'd pay no more than $10/hour. Simply because it's really, really easy work. Plus I don't see it adding much value to my business.

The more value you can provide, the more you can charge.

I have an associates degree in Information Technology but have no work experience in my field. I have done many of the things I am inquiring about in school or on my own, but never for pay.

I am here to test the IM waters and see how I like it. I will most likely go into programming for my bachelors degree. I do a lot of web design with Dreamweaver and Flash for myself as sort of a hobby, which is what led me here.
