Clickbank + AdWords - Anyone actually making $$ with this?

I'm really frustrated because as an affiliate it seems the combination of AdWords and Clickbank no longer works. Simply because of the QS of the landing page. My ads do not show for any Clickbank products. The QS details are always the same. Keyword Relevance = OK, Page Load Time = OK, Landing Page Relevance = "This page isn't highly relevant" (which is weird to me if Keyword Relevance is OK). This is linking directly to the sales page (I've tried review sites but the QS did not improve). I've seen merchants direct link to their site - I can't imagine how they get impressions this way?

I've encountered this with my own websites as well. I've tried the one-keyword-per-adgroup strategy and still no impressions. I tried the review page and I try to give honest reviews and not just have a hypey pre-sell page and still no impressions. I shouldn't say NO impressions, but I'll have a budget of over $100 and a high CPC limit and I'll still get about 5-10 an impression. Enough that I know the ads are active, but that that's about it. Sorry I don't mean to complain, I'm just real frustrated at the moment.

That's how I make the majority of my living, but I have my own products. I break even on the first product and make a bundle on the second product.

Do you direct link to your product? Is your landing page a sales letter?

I definitely build a list. But it depends on the niche you're in. I am not trying to cure a sore throat or a headache that someone wants a cure fore right away.

Lots of my affiliates are making money with Clickbank and Adwords. I've paid out hundreds of thousands of dollars to affiliates this year alone.

Every week, I make affiliate sales using Clickbank and Adwords. Some are internet marketing products and others aren't. I don't create different websites for those, I just send clicks to my affiliate pages, and sales are made.

Need more impressions to make the effort worthwhile? Here is what I do.

I don't care if a website only receives 5 clicks a month as long as these keywords are relevant. I tend to only use a few set of Ad Groups to each product to maintain GREAT quality scores. GOOD quality scores are okay as long as those keywords are converting.

I also don't spend over $0.20 per click. So by the time an internet marketing product website receives 100 clicks, it only adds up to $20 spent. Out of $20 I spend, I might make $62 in affiliate sales, which comes out to be $42 in net sales, but a website might take 3 months (even longer) before generating 100 clicks.

So I diversify my campaigns, I run multiple campaigns, each spending low budget every month. Some generate sales and others don't. But they all add up every week.

With GREAT quality scores, the average money spent per click gets lower than even $0.20 and rank goes up while generating better CTR %.

Many affiliates try out it by looking for ONE product to promote (that everyone else is promoting), build campaigns with hundreds of keywords (often with irrelevant keywords) and spend more money per click than it's worthwhile marketing -- pretty soon, CC bill goes up to $100 for the month with only one affiliate sale.

If you're already getting few impressions every week/month, it's good and that's not a negative opinion as long you're not over spending per every click.

Why don't you multiple the effort by 100 campaigns, each giving 1 impression a day (100 impressions a day GREAT QS keywords), generating small affiliate sales everyday from all sorts of websites and products.

No I have actually stopped my adwords account for awhile because I was getting so many hits but no sales and I honestly thought I was doing everything right. I have started with a private coach now and I am taking a different approach which seems to be working.

i seriously, seriously might stop CB/AdWords again because the BEST i can get is breaking even.

First..i am not an AW "noob", i know the ins and outs of phrase and exact matching, negative keywords, long-tails, quality score.

I have tools and ways to advertise, usually shooting for *at least" a GOOD QS, means something like 7/10. If i get great, the better.

I do keyword research, i use and have as good as all "known" KW tools and resources. I am not a dummy, i dont bid on "general terms" like "forex"...and i avoid oversaturated niches.

AdWords == Clickbank starts to really, really SUCK. Regardless what people say. I want PROOF of the "$0.20" clicks. I am not even sure WHEN i saw a EU(!)0.20 click last.

    Example:

Recently, there was much hype about certain products on clickbank, namely "Alternative Energy" products...and i found some VERY nice keywords w/ decent search volume.

    a) Dont even think about being at position #5 or better BELOW $0.35, rather upwards...to maintain a decent position rather think $0.36- $0.40 and up.

We're talking CB products here where SOMETIMES 100 clicks could mean ONE conversion. Sometimes, not always. CTR overall very dissatisfactory.

I seeing CPC for keywords on certain CB niches going up now, $0.75 for a fricking CB product. SEVENTY FIVE CENT/click??!?! So i get like $24 commission after 50 maybe 100 clicks? DO THE MATH!

Seriously, i have way better success on squidoo, article marketing and getting real organics instead of wasting more time and money on this.

Even bidding $0.35 is already $0.15 too much.

I really, really want to see those "promising" and even halfway converting KWs costing only 0.20/CPC yielding a position #5 or better.

Maybe i am promoting the wrong products, niches.

This technique used to work real well. People were making millions per day in the early days of this. I'm not so sure it is as successful as before. Then google got word of this and started knocking out affiliate links on adwords. So this tactic is not as effective anymore.

its neither a question of QS nor "affiliate links". If you know my products, mainly affiliate site quick, it creates landing pages...i NEVER used an affiliate link in adwords, EVER.

      Also..as said 7/10 QS == Good..some pages i even have "great".

I notice that the best converting sites are actually review sites on squidoo, coming from organics, like "XXXX product review"....but "mainstream" clickbank PPC marketing just doesnt do it for me. I do actually make a healthy portion of my income from CB....but only a SMALL portion of it actually from PPC.

  • I earn appx. 20% of my revenue using Adwords direct-linking to CB products. Here is a screenshot from a current campaign with 233 keywords. You can see from this screenshot, all QS='Great", CPC's are mostly $.08-$.09, CTR's up to 36%.

FWIW, this campaign results in a net 200-225% ROI. My weekly spend is appx. $300, and my CB net is between $600-$750.

Non-saturated keyword phrases, strong ads, optimized via tight tracking.

If you have a problem with QS, just go out and grab an article/articles
that are relevant to the product that you're promoting and throw
in at the bottom of the page(for one article) or create a separate
page for articles and throw a link to it on the landing page.

of course, to this, you'll need to create landing page(review
    page/opt-in, etc)...

and I would definitely start building lists. so here's the breakdown
    again:

    1. grab some targeted, relevant keywords for your chosen product.
    2. go to article directories( I like EZA and GoArticles) and
    grab some relevant articles.
    3. throw a link at the bottom of your landing page to your "articles"
page, or optionally just one article at the bottom of your landing
    page.

this method always brings my QS up, and I find it works the best
with opt-in pages. you can use this technique on review pages,
but it may affect your conversion rate.
