Is Article Marketing Dead? Or Just In A Coma!

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed it takes more to succeed at article marketing recently. For example, the traffic I used to get two years ago with one article now takes 5 articles to get. And the clicks-thurs I need to get an order has tripled.

I'd like to just blame it on the economy and competition but could it be article blindness or article resource box blindness? Is anyone experiencing this trend and what are you doing about it?

    Nah, all depends on demand of what you are writing about and qualitiy.

      People seem to be getting overly alarmed about this supposed "death" of internet marketing - if they spent half as much time focusing on writing quality content instead, I think they'd be singing a very different tune!

        Indeed, if they created content for humans, their articles would get widely syndicated and they wouldn't be reliant on Google. Personally I am jumping up and down with glee.

    The coincidence of threads about the same topic simply reflects a problem that is affecting everyone.

    This happened basically due to recent changes in Google’s search algorithms with the intention to eliminate duplicate content. There are more reasons, of course.

    For me nothing has changed; I can even tell you that I’m getting more traffic now than before, since now I have already published more then 1100 articles at ezinearticles. My articles are original; I write daily articles, etc.

    Now it seems that content is playing an important role in order to decide a website’s (or an article’s) ranking.

    You have to write quality articles and pay attention to many other details if you want to be successful with article marketing. I don’t know if you write well, and I don’t know what you are trying to sell. However, if your articles are original and informative, they’ll get a good ranking, and your website will get organic traffic. Good articles keep sending daily traffic to your websites for years to come. They are much better than ads, which you have to pay if you want to have them up and running. Article writing and marketing is the best free traffic generating method. And your readers are already your fans. They are half-prepared to become your customers. I advise you to study article writing techniques and improve your articles.

    Article marketing is dead for everyone that is lazy.

    If you notice downward trends, then you aren't staying polishing in your game. Nothing is dead, only the people who aren't putting enough effort into it.

    Proper keyword research is a necessity.

    I would analyze what has been working for you in the past, and compare articles, statistics and such.

    Search Engine Algorithm Changes

    It says how their traffic is down by 11% and that they are making major changes. They are considering changing the minimum words/article from 350 to 400.

      To be honest, my initial capital to invest in paid traffic came from article marketing.

      Most people are thinking about just releasing articles, direct linking them.

      And they make little or no money.

      The key to this is automation. I have a lot of locally employed workers (students) who write articles at less than USD$1 per 300 word article.

      In article marketing, quantity is important. Amount of traffic determines the amount of money you make.

      Copy is important as well.

      I have now quit article marketing because I went into paid advertising and also offline consulting (really big fishes in my area). I just did not have the energy do article marketing anymore.

      The nofollow tag, I believe there is still some link juice or at least SOMETHING counting towards SERPs, people may call me stupid for that, but I think so and will until I prove myself wrong.

      However, I see this update from EA in two different ways. Article marketing may die, from ezinearticles. But either way, that shouldn't be the only place you put articles. Another way is, that this will give them a boost on quality articles, not so much garbage will be accepted.

      I think they are making a dumb decision making links nofollow because I would bet thousands of articles a week, will dwindle down because many SEOs won't mess with nofollow links period.

      In addition to that, what really irks me is when I get this vague sense of deja vu, in which I feel that I have just read this very same article a few minutes ago at another site that was also on the first page of Google.

    It definately takes more articles now then ever before to get the same amount of traffic that it did several years ago.

    EZA admits that the traffic that could be generated with a dozen articles 5 years ago requires about 200-500 articles today. I think that is a bit high but it does show that more articles are needed.

    They also state that the average article generates about 25-250 page views a year so 10 articles would bring 250-2500 page views and 7-75 clicks to your website.

    100 articles would bring 2,500-25,000 page views and 70-750 clicks to your website.

    Remember, those are average figures so the good and bad articles are lumped together.

    The situation is cloud, murky and bleak but a resourceful marketer will find a way to turn this recent development to their advantage....that's what I intend to do.
