Hey guys.. total newbie here. I'm registering a domain name on godaddy and I'm not sure if going for the "certified domain" is a good idea or if it affects much. Any pros/cons for going with or without a certified domain?

Looks like this certification amounts to calling the phone number anf/or mailing a test postcard to the address you've given in the registration info. This is not an industry standard system and most consumers won't recognize it, as Ryan Kole suggests it's just something godaddy has invented to enhance their revenues. It's not available with private registration used by some home based businesses.

There are a variety of other site certification systems that award you a badge to display. The BBB approval logo is desirable but costs something like $150/yr. Some just put a pice of gold "Gurantee" seal artwork on their sales pages.

Thank you Ryan. I took your advice and I'm much happier I went with namecheap.com.
