Niche Market Ideas for Newbies

Hey Warriors,

I've seen many posts by many other Newbies saying they are struggling to make money Online. Also, being new, they do not know how to research or what type of Niche Products to actually sell.

How about giving them all an idea of various products (digital & actual products) that they can consider looking into to start focusing on a Direction.

I'm sure any type of idea proposal would be highly appreciate by all newbies.

Cheers,
Chirag

    Hi, Chirag

Maybe give some niche idea to newbie, and how to do research on niche market.
How to find product is also a problem, I want to find some Dropship program, but they all not free.

      Hi Chirag,

I understand why you would suggest this, but choosing a product isn't the best way to help someone get started.

Unless they understand how to access the market and promote effectively - giving them a product will just leave a beginner in a confused position of having a product and not being sure how to promote it.

I know people like to get suggestions from others, but really the best way to be successful is not to copy others but to decide on your own path and then learn from relevant people that have done things successful in that area.

        Hey Andy,

How's it going? Good hearing from you!

I TOTALLY agree with you and see what exactly you mean but of course my point was to just try and get things rolling for Newbies.

You know, just to bounce some ideas (MAINLY Ideas) to give them a direction or an idea so to say of what they think they like and which direction they should look into.

        Cheers,

          Hi Mate,

In that case, I concur with JJ - look for where the traffic is and put yourself in front of it.

Look where people are paying to advertise and trace their business model as much as you can and see where they're making the money.

Most businesses do not make the majority of their money from the front-end sale, so just looking at what product is selling well will not give you enough information to base a decision on.

You could look at ads on Google for any keyword you fancy and then follow the links, see what products are being promoted, sign up to ezines/lists and see what the experience is like and decide whether you can reasonably expect to outperform it.

You can check out Ebay for what's selling and at what price - see what questions buyers have had about products, and then create a review site as an Ebay affiliate and answer all the common questions and link to live Ebay auctions for those products.

You get the idea - find what people are buying and why and then see how to create a model that puts you in front of them most effectively.

        Excellent answer, Andy.

Particularly the section about not getting into something that will actually be a burden, like article writing. If your business depends on that skill, it can be extremely fatiguing and frustrating if you don't absolutely love writing.

One point that many newbies seem to overlook is that it takes time to learn the ropes, establish your business and start making sales. It takes a great deal of determination, persistence and continued effort and hard work to reach the financial goals most of us aspire to achieve.

It's important, therefore, to learn the basics first and proceed at your own pace, rather than trying to jump right out and make big money. If you try to sell before you and your business are ready, you will be disappointed. Disappointment often turns to disillusionment about making money online.

A common error is for newbies to jump from one business idea to another, hoping to hit "the winner". It's not necessarily the business that determines success. It's your own attitude towards it, and being aware of the realities of internet marketing.

Choose your niche wisely. It's often best if you stick to niches that actually interest you. It doesn't matter whether you're good at that particular thing or even whether you've tried it. If you have a keen interest, you will have the energy and stamina to learn about it as you go along. This is the best business model you can choose because it is something you truly like and, in all likelihood, will like for many years to come.

Take a notepad (or open Word) and create 2 columns - a positive and a negative. In the positive column, write down all your interests, your strengths, things you've done in your life, your job history, your volunteer work, your hobbies, any sports, etc. Make note of your skills. Note the things you absolutely hated in the negative column to help you identify things that you would not want to do. For instance, if you had jobs you absolutely hated, put them in the neg column. If you loved the job, but hated doing inventory, note that.

This will give you an excellent starting point to finding a business that's right for you.

Once you have made your choices, begin your research into those categories. Look at Clickbank's lists, check out Amazon for the best sellers on your subject, run keyword searches and see how the stats are regarding searches and competition. This will give you a good idea if you are going in the right direction.

If there's a good amount of competition, you can be sure it's a profitable niche. Check them out. See what they're offering and how they're doing it. This will give you ideas on how to build your own business... and always keep an open mind. Keep your creativity turned on for ways you can make your business unique, better, more powerful.

There's a lot to learn about starting and running a business online. The key is to get started, stay focused on your main goal (don't be distracted by tempting business offers), and be realistic about your short-term goals and income potential.

You will learn a lot here on the Forum, from people like Andy. Don't forget to check the WF archives - run a search for whatever you need help with and you're sure to get a lot of threads that provide excellent answers.

        Stay positive!

I think it is really important to keep things as simple as possible. I've worked with some friends that approached me about wanting to try things out with IM and I always suggest starting small (without spending zillions on fancy software and books!).

I think that bum marketing with articles, and things like yahoo answers are easier to accomplish and also a lot easier to grasp. Plus, once you have a niche you can just go to yahoo answers to find out what people are having trouble with.

        Hi Matt,

You're completely right about keeping things simple - however, starting with something like article marketing might sound like a nice gentle way to get started - but life is short and sometimes starting something just because you can does not put you on the road to get where you were hoping to get.

If your plan is to make BIG money, then whatever model you choose needs to be able to get you there.

A lot of people start with 'something' and end up putting in a lot of time and effort (years) and not getting anywhere near what they wanted - because they chose a strategy that would never get them there, just because they wanted to start 'something'.

          Hey Andy,

I appreciate what you're saying about article marketing as a
          starting point....

          That begs the question then:

What would you consider to be the right strategy to hit the BIG
Money and to get you onto that road?

          Your thoughts....

That's a good question, and the answer will be different for everyone.

This is why getting personal advice from someone who can help you get these answers makes sense. No-one can tell you these answers from an impartial perspective without understanding more about who you are and what's right for you.

For one person, spending all their time writing might be their idea of heaven - for someone else it might be hell.

There are only a few core questions that you need to answer (in my humble opinion):

1 - Why are you starting an online business?

This is not referring to 'to make some money'. Money is just a token that lets you get something else - it's that something else that is the 'why', and it's that something else that will keep you motivated when things don't go well. You need to know why.

2 - Are you clear about who you're trying to help and why?

If you're not even sure why you're in the business you're in - you need to stop and think about it.

3 - Are you clear about the value that what you're doing has to your target market, and how you can reasonably expect them to pay you what you're aiming to make?

If you're not sure what value you're bringing or why you can expect to make the sort of money you're hoping for - time to think about it.

4 - What's different about what you're doing that means you can expect the outcome you desire?

Copying others might get you started but unless you're doing something different, you'll get the same (if that) results as others - which is usually not great. What value are you bringing to the table that makes you think you stand out?

5 - Do you have a scalable and systemisable business model?

There's only one of you, so you'd better be clear about how to scale up your business without it meaning more and more of your time.

(this is where membership sites rock, same work but you can supply more and more members)

6 - Are you building a solid business with high ticket back end products and recurring revenue opportunities?

This is where most of your potential revenue is, so don't jump around on the front end trying to get rich selling ebooks.

7 - Are you cultivating relationships that support your goals?

Don't do this on your own, it's less effective and less fun.

8 - Do you still have sensible priorities?

Don't put this stuff before your family.

Despite what people say about needing to work hard - you can work smart and build your business without sacrificing the important stuff (relationships and family) along the way. You don't want to end up the richest person in the graveyard because you worked yourself into an early grave and didn't enjoy the journey with your friends and family.

I don't think there's more to it than that.

When you get down to what works - it's always simple. Find a market and feed it, plus don't build a business based on a model that you don't want to be stuck in if it succeeds (i.e don't have it based on you and your time - especially if you don't want to end up spending all your time doing whatever is the core activity. Build your business so that it doesn't need you).

And that's just about my perspective on the matter.

                Hi Greg,

I do when it's right for both people. It's not something I promote, but when people ask me and the fit is right I do take on coaching and mentoring clients.

Obviously, some of these things take more than a quick forum post to get a clear perspective on for some people so I just try to give people enough to get them thinking and take a clear look at what they're doing to make sure it's going to work for them.

I'm not a guru, just a guy who's put in a fair bit of time and resources to get the answers for myself and I like to help others get the same.

                Regards,

That's a good tip about using blogs and squidoo lenses to test

hi. i think the best way to help newbies is to actually help them build their career. i had been reading posts of newbies finding jobs but most of us ignore them. my point is, let us first guide them to the right way. some newbies failed because they easily want to get up but they forget, it would take time. though some are lucky enough to make it in a shorter span of time.
