is it worth the effort to market various items online?

There's ways to do it, but it's a lotta work IMHO.

Better payoff focusing elsewhere, I think.

    Anyone else?

Well, I landed a 20K 30 day contract yesterday on Craigslist. I started in the morning and had a signed document by the end of the day. I'm expecting 1/2 of the contract money in my paypal by first thing on Monday.

Bear in mind, I sell professional services ... not ebooks or other junk.

Nah, CraigsList is shit. Don't even bother.

If you're providing information I find craigslist helpful, but when it comes to selling something you have to find an exact fit for CL to be useful, which is very difficult. If you want to post in more then one area you have to change the ad or you get an error message telling you that the post is too much like another post.

My 2 cents, too much hassle for the time spent.

Not at all. SEO, internet marketing & usability services.

Usability & UX is something that I've been doing for years. the SEO & internet marketing I learned right here on this forum and maximized my dialog with the SEs to finally put together a compelling offer.

Craigslist is good for landing traffic to your opt-in page. My success with selling on craigslist is horrible. I do get more traffic for the opt-in page though.

Is there an alternative to craigslist which has nearly as much traffic. Its more diffcult to post ads now that phone verification is required. Anyone can suggest other alternative?

Yes, the phone verification is annoying. What do you guys think of that? (Nowadays seems a lot of companies are 'phone' verifying, but the information is misused for telephone marketing, etc).
