The short and simple answer is more people have heard of and use Paypal, so more people use Paypal. It is one of those things that if everyone already has it, then that is what you need to use to be able to accept and make the most money.

Paypal kind of has a monopoly on that type of payment system. It will be hard for anyone to catch them in amount of users. Alertpay is a fine company and I have had no trouble with them at all. They have gotten better now that they accept credit cards right away after signing up so people don't have to fund their accounts first now.

William, it is not that Alertpay is involved in HYIPs, they are just more lenient on what they will allow payment for. That is why they are used by programs like that because Paypal will not allow MLM, HYIPs, or any other type of "risky" business. They have an option when you sign up if you will use it for that type of business and they charge more for it.

Just like 95% of Internet Marketers I use Paypal, but Alertpay is a good alternative and would be even better if more people would just sign up and give it a shot. Untill more people join and offer it as an option people who have accounts will not be able to use it like they could.

I have the impression Alertpay is more lenient with "risky" types of businesses, ie: HYIPs and the like.

I've got a lot of clients using AlertPay as well as Paypal.

AlertPay seems to be more flexible for supporting certain countries, as well as for the adult industry.

They seem to have quite a nice system.

Having said that, Paypal is more popular and more well know.

So it really depends on what your business requires as to the best one to go for.

Or if you wanted, just offer both.

    cheers

Paypal can be kind of quirky at times. I started using AlertPay as a backup payment processor, and found that nearly 20% of my customers now use AlertPay. I also use Google checkout with significant results in sales conversions. I don't believe any particular one is better than the other, but PayPal has been very aggressive in marketing on the internet so it is better known and more widely used than the others.

    Thanks for the responses guys!

They all are appreciated and make sense...

I think I'll stay with PayPal and use Alertpay as a backup...

Or just offer both and let the client decide...

    Any more responses from people?

I have just changed to Alertpay - Paypal are a bunch of crooks!

They don't allow MLM but yet they are a payment method for GDI which is one of the biggest MLM companies.

They close people's account and give the reason that your promoting MLM or a Pyramid Scheme, even if you're not and will not listen to anything you have to say.

They close your account and then KEEP ALL YOUR MONEY!

    They are crooks.

The quicker people start using other payment processors like Alertpay the better, let Paypal know that they have some competition out there, then they might treat their customers better.

Paypal is better except 3 things:

      1. Sometime they will freeze your account without notice which will create a serious problem to your business.

      2. Not only that their customer service is horrible. Sometimes they hold the money for a long time. And it will be very difficult to communicate with a responsible paypal customer manager who can solve your problem.

      3. They don't support many country.

I use both too, but I like paypal because I have a paypal debit card and get instant access to my money. As soon as I receive a payment I have access to it.

We take PayPal on our sites and it has worked great. I recently added Alert Pay as a second alternative as there are a few countries PayPal doesn't work with.

We get a few people using it, but by far the biggest useage is PayPal.

I have already used the two before but I have difficulty on getting some fund on my Alertpay account. Paypal has a lot of merchants and thus you could easily fund it.
