I own a celebrity gossip site that gets roughly between 300 to 400 uniques a day and climbing..

I am starting to get email inquiries about text links and ad space..

What would I charge for the amount of hits I am getting?

Thanks,
#charge

It might be worth checking the going rate for similar sites on buysellads.com

Actually have done that.. buy sell ads requires your site to have at least 500,000 pv per mth.. so I can't even compare with that..

You can ask around and get some decent ideas.

I've heard people charging as little as 1 cent per day and as much as 50 cents per click.
I think if you have enough offers then you could be a nice guy and do something like $5 a day or something like that.

I mean really if you do that you may have 10 ads running making you $50 a day just for having ads run. Then you could say something like a max of 2 weeks running so you can give others a chance to get in there.

I'd say once you find a good average of what people are charging then you can base your upgrades on how many more visitors you get.

For example, $3 a day for a guaranteed 300 visitors $5 for 500 etc etc.

      Just an idea.

I was recently offered $30 a month for a link on a PR3 site. No questions about traffic at all, and they contacted me. Another company paid me $140 for 1 year of a link posted on another blog. Pr3 as well, the link was embedded in a post. I just did what they told me to do and accepted my paypal! You may have sold yourself a little cheap, but you can always raise it later!

    Hi Rachelle,

You should also look at promoting CPA offers on your site instead.

Based on your demographics (I'm guessing) you could probably start with teeth whitening or skin care offers - even free ipad and iphone offers might do well.

You'll make a lot more that $10 a month from those.

Run some Google Adwords banners on your site. See what sort of money you make from them. If you make $20/month from them then people are paying Google upwards of $40/month to run those ads.

The thing is, you can charge whatever you want for your ads. But if you want repeat advertisers then you need to know the sort of results those advertisers can expect and adjust your prices accordingly.
