400 word Minimum for EA article now? Hmmm

I noticed now that when I posted a short 350 words article on EA today. They are now asking or requiring them to be 400 words.

Is this right? or am I just seeing things? Must have been changed recently.

Maybe it is because they are receiving lots of junk short article, and are trying to put a stop to this??

    • What if I have 20 articles waiting? They are not under 400 words. Will I have to make them longer?

  • I believe this is due to the Google update.

The new Google update is kicking everyone's ass so Ezine is trying to keep their awesome reputation by making their authors provide quality content. This is in hopes of removing the crap and keeping their good ranking.

    Just my thoughts

    • Ryan, you might be right. Obviously there are going to be a few changes coming this year as they said.

but just because they make you post 400 word articles does not mean they will be quailty. I have seen really good 300 word articles. And then I must say, i have seen really crappy 600 - 700 articles.

  • New guidelines for EZA were just posted on their blog today and are effective as of today--well worth reading the latest blog for details.

    Quality Matters

I think it's a great plan to work towards improving content right across the internet, as it's going to lift the otherwise low standards.

EZA is basically making adjustments to keep up with the recent changes from Google--which is causing a stir.

It's going to be a challenge for those who rely solely on spun articles--and perhaps those that sell the software and services too.

    • I do not spin articles, never have. But yes you correct... google is always about good content. I am not sure that spun articles count as good content. What if the article (that was spun) was crap from the start....LOL
    • Seems like a good step to me.

Now, people will be deemed to provide quality and so the articles will show better results, after the Google's algorithm change.

  • I'm glad I stopped using them ages ago as their effectiveness is not the best. There are many more directories that rank much higher and deliver more traffic than them.

  • Just received a email detailing changes to their new qualification.
Check it out at Quality Matters
  • fair enough by EA, I read their articles and only want good stuff
  • It was always good to make your articles over 400 words anyway, because, that's the requirement if you want your article to qualify for any of the Top Viewed or Top Published listings.
  • No you are not making anything up, they have changed the requirements and goes effective today.

I got the message in my email this morning informing me of the situation. And also they have up their quality control so many more articles will be declined in the future as from today.

I think they made four new changes on the requirements I just can't remember all four but I might just check my email and post the whole email i received here so that everybody can read.
  • All this means is that the multitude of bad writers will add extra padding to their 'articles'.

The problem is that everyone and his dog went mad throwing articles at directories because they knew they'd get back links. Now google is doing something about it ezine is trying to get back to the old days before it was swamped (and happy to be) with waste.

They should take the idea of article seriously. Something that isn't just 5 things I hate about autoresponders (or similar) but serious articles written by people with something to say.

They should get rid of the google ads and sell their articles to websites with a revenue spilt for the authors.

People will only buy the best articles and this will serve as quality control enough.
