Article marketing still works?

From what I know of article marketing, it's slow like SEO. I would assume you'll need a lot more articles to have any impact.

I'd recommend doing a search for TPW, a very well known writer here at the forum, he has a free ebook in his signature I couldn't recommend more.

Look out for posts by Alexa Smith, John McCabe and many others that will no doubt post here after me.

There are many here that make a lot of money from article marketing alone. It's not all about submitting articles to directories. Don't just take it from me.

Article marketing, in the form it was originally intended, isn't going anywhere.

Don't give up! Keep submitting more content online. I recommend utilizing all forms of "content marketing" - article marketing, video marketing, viral marketing reports, etc. You have to stay patient and work hard.

My friend....if you are talking about the results from just 3 articles than I'm afraid it was never going to work.

If you had asked this question last year I would have told you 3 articles is not enough.

If you had asked this question last week I would have told you 3 articles is not enough.

If you ask this question next month I will tell you 3 articles is not enough.

A lot of variables go into a successful article marketing campaign and one of them is a substantial amount of articles to begin with.

Keep writing but pay attention to some of the postings in the forum on ways to take advantage of the recent algorithm changes and than implement.

Well, 3 articles is not going to get you very far. Article Marketing still works and you need more articles. Specifically quality articles instead of just any article. Make sure you get a writer that will write good content for you or you are probably wasting your money. This is especially true with the new google and EZA changes.

TimG is absolutely right. Think of article marketing as a snowball going down a hill. The more snow it collects, the bigger it gets, and the more of an impact it makes.

You're not going to see anything with 3 articles. But, as you turn that total into 13 articles, 30 articles, and so on, you will see results - assuming you're publishing quality stuff. A big part of a successful article marketing campaign is establishing yourself as an expert. That means providing quality information, not just fluff.

Be sure to put them on your site first! Even if the 3 you submitted aren't on your site, put them there now. Any future articles you write, get them on your site first and then submit.

I make the analogy that Ty Cobb was the best batter in the history of baseball, and he had a batting average of .365, which is in essence 1 "hit" for every 3 "at bats"...

Professional article writers who are at the top of their game generally get one hit for every 3-5 at-bats... And one grand slam for every 20 at-bats.

And you are a newcomer thinking that your 3 articles will be "all you need"...

High expectations are great, when you have the experience to deliver the goods. But over-expectations are a certain recipe for misery, despair and unaccomplished goals.

That was true a week ago. Now...not so much. It would take an avalanche to create the same effect of that 3, 13, 30, 300, and even 3000 article sequence you mentioned.

It's hard to make the case that someone should spend either the man-hours or the money to pound out a thousand (or more) articles moving forward simply to drive traffic when so many other ways are more effective, provided you can actually write.

For example, as a non-native speaker the OP will likely always have to pay for content if that's the way he preferred to start initially. And that content just went up 40% in cost, because that's how large a hit the major 2.0 congregator sites took as a pseudo-traffic penalty. He needs 40% more articles just to match what he would have gotten over the long term previously.

Might be time for the non-professionals to move on from article marketing, this segment just got a whole lot tougher to penetrate for the layman...I'm not sure yet.

We'll see how it all winds out, but right now I would bet that 70% of submissions are being kicked back to authors today and for the rest of this week with EZA's new guidelines (up from 42% normally).

Perhaps the articles don't have what it takes to get people to read to the end and then click through to your website. It may also be that the articles are fine but the topic or subject is not all that popular.

Don't stop there, however, get some more articles out. I've been finding that traffic from ezinearticles has increased over the last few days.

Google's latest algorithm change, rolled out in the US last week, may have downgraded the value of the links.

They've declared war on low quality content. Even of your article were original and helpful, the sites will not rank as well and the backlinks will provide less SEO value.

Try geust blogging instead. Write a like-minded person in your niche.

Hi Profreelancer,

If you have quality content in your site, it is time to go completely whitehat while doing proper 'on page' SEO.

Then you have to look at back links and forum postings( research related forums in your niche and make QUALITY COMMENTS) while leaving the link to your site trailing behind every post you make.

Pick as many of such forums as you can but look more for those that are quite reputable. You will begin to see traffic if well implemented.

And to your question: Article marketing still works!

Thank you for posting this question. From my experience, article marketing is a slow building process. It is worthwhile to keep adding quality articles on regular basis though. I would not dismiss their importance when it comes to building a well respected online reputation.

  There are certain protocols you must follow in article marketing.
  
  Some will tell you that you need to write dozens or even hundreds of articles to have an impact while others will say to blast the same article over and over to thousands of article directories.
  
  While both of these methods may have some limited merit, the reality is that what you do with the article you write will have the best impact.
  
  I have written ONE article (in a particular niche) and that one article has reached page one position 4 on Google within a few days for a competitive keyword.
  
  The keyword has About 1,200,000 results (according to Google) and my ONE article has reached position 4 that quickly.
  
  If you follow proper protocols in marketing, you can easily achieve similar results, regardless of the competition.
  
  Most internet marketers will tell you a variety of ways to get indexed and receive targeted web traffic. Nevertheless, most of those methods are redundant and non-productive.
  
  View your articles as a message to your audience and give that audience what they want along with utilizing the proper strategy for getting your message out to the targeted web traffic.
  
  If you would like I am more than happy to review your article and help you find some of the leaks in that article which may be preventing you from achieving the rankings and traffic.

  I don't think there is as much power in articles directories bringing traffic directly from the site but I think the real power is in the SEO juice they provide if you're doing any link building with article marketing.

Yes article marketing still works. Creating unique versions of your articles and using them in article directories, as blog content, and for video marketing, gives you a broad approach to article marketing. I have found this still to be great for both traffic and backlinks.

No matter how many other new methods have been added to the list, in terms of article marketing, you must remember that article marketing is a clean marketing technique and you won't have to worry too much anything about it. reasons, article marketing still works phenomenally well.

The hard part is finding that 'right way'.

Has anyone asked the question whether the OP uses article marketing to get direct traffic from the articles themselves or to get a SEO effect?

For direct traffic:

Well, then only big ones will work of course. And I dont think that you will surpass the amount of 15.

BTW, if you want to get direct traffic from articles, you have to do more keyword research and try to find low competition keywords (mostly long tails) and write about them and also mention them in your title!

For SEO purposes:

Doesnt work as well as before the Google update but its still working. But not with 3 articles, I think if you use spun articles you need to have around 300. If you use 100% unique articles then you will not need so many, I think 30-50 are good, but this would also mean that you have to write 50 unique articles.
