yahoo answers violation?

hi guys

i am trying to use yahoo answers to get some traffic to my site and trying to work my way to lvl 2 first.

however, one of my answers (which i posted a link to a third party website - i felt was relevant to the question, and is TOTALLY unrelated to any internet marketing efforts - it is just a genuine answer) got a violation which reads:

Violation Reason: Spam

In Yahoo! Answers you may not post links with the purpose of directing commercial activity to a non-Yahoo! site or an email address.

If you feel this content was removed in error, please read the Community Guidelines and make sure that this content: 1. respects the question-answer format and is not chatty or personal communication; 2. does not contain non-relevant links to external sites or other questions and does not promote your own blog or website; 3. is respectful to other people and does not offend other community members. If you still believe this content has been removed in error, please contact Customer Care and tell us why.
now i wont worry about a violation or two, but look at the reason in bold above. doesnt tt kind of limit one's ability to drive traffic to his or her own website? how do you guys work around it?

thanks lots

It sure does because what you are doing is exactly what they are trying to stop people from doing.

I'll be honest, I never got into any of the answer sites and using them for getting people to my own sites. I have heard of many people having their accounts banned on these sites for the same reasons you received those warnings - and when this happens all your hard work goes down the toilet.

You would be much better off spending the time writing some content for your own site or some article sites.

Im always searching for answers site and trying new ones out. I have been using answerspost.com latestly as they allow you to link back to your site in your answers as long as its relevant and they let you have in your profile a link to your twitter, facebook and website. So if you answer a lot of questions you can gain trust and people will check out your profile and well you can get traffic and link juice that way

They also have an internet marketing section which is handy. I have actually posted a few questions myself and then answered my own questions with another account LOL. I dont do it in a spammy way but I add value to the question but make sure it leads back to my sites

i was using yahoo answers in past . i had many answers with links. Actually most of the people use it for this purpose. I had many answers with my backlinks though i didnt recieved any notice from yahoo.

anyway i m not using yahoo answers now. i think forum discusson is a better then yahoo answers. Forum allows signature legaly.

Yes they do. I contacted them and they said that as long as a person is not putting multiple links in an answer and the link is relevant to the question and its combined with a written answer then its no different than a source link which yahoo allows.

Personally I think this is helpful for us marketers who want to be able to answer people but at the same time we want to provide a link back to our site.

Also a nice part is if you are the one asking the question. If you select an answer and then a week later someone else puts another answer that is more relevant you can change the answer you initially selected by selecting the new one.

If you try to drive traffic to your site with Yahoo Answers, you're going to have to deal with getting accounts banned. Some people are just trigger happy and label even relevant posts/links as scams.

If you're comfortable with it, make a new account and make sure your answers are as helpful as possible. If not, consider another traffic source

Hello, yea I have seen some people talking about Yahoo answears. But I thing you need to give really good answears so you don't get your account banned, they have to be careful, to much spamm lately everywere. You better use forums or articles for that purpose.
