Anyone else having a problem getting analytics on wordpress to work? Ive been trying for 2 days now and cant get it to work!

I have a new plugin i guess where you enter a short user ID out of the code. So i found that code within the code google gives me and activated it and everything in wordpress. It wont work.

Is this some kinda bug. Any fixes or maybe something im doin wrong?

Why not just put the Analytics code in your header or footer?

Yeah go to footer.php, but it right before the end </body> tag.

I always seem to have problems with the analytics for wordpress plug ins too.

If you change theme tho... remember to add the code in your new theme too

It took me quite a bit of fiddling around to get mine working too. I can't remember what I did exactly, but I remember it taking at least 2 days to start actually counting.

    Jakehyten,
Here is a few things to bear in mind/try

    1. you have to wait 24hrs before stats start showing in GA.

    2. Are you getting visitors? use your cPanel stats package (Awstats or Weblizer) and make sure you had visitors, (no visits = no stats in GA)

    3. Are You sure the analytics code is getting embedded in your blog page by the plugin? view the page source and you should see the analytics code towards the bottom of page, If you don't see the code your stats won't be recorded.

    4. if the code correct?, try embedding the code yourself without the plugin, copy the entire code from GA and paste it into your wordpress template footer.php, wait 24hrs and check GA

    6. there are a few analytics plugins available; try another one and see if that works

I use a header/footer plug in which makes it really easy to drop tracking codes and whatever else into your headers/footers. That's the beauty of WP, if you've got a problem, there's always a plug in that answers it!

What stats counter are you using?

I'm using Statcounter.com on one of my blogs and there's a free plugin that allows you to just get it working straight away, no changing headers or footers or anything.

Plus, you don't need to wait 24 hours for your stats, they're available almost in real time!

For instance I can see that at 11:36pm (10 minutes ago) someone visited my signature linked page from this thread.

    It's a great tool.

Try this plugin -- it ROCKS and you only need to put in your UA #/string. Everything else is automatic.
