Fascinating Facebook Facts

Greetings,

Did you know....? Facebook has more than 600 million active visitors as of Jan 2011; 50% of active users log on to Facebook in any given day; most people spend over 700 billion minutes per month on Facebook...yikes. More than 3 billion photos uploaded each month (wow!) About 70% of Facebook users are outside the United States and over 300,000 users helped translate the site through the translations application.

Did you know, more than 2.5 million websites have integrated with Facebook
and more than 20 million people have become fans of Pages each day! The top 5 countries on FB are:

1. United States
2. UK
3. Indonesia
4. Turkey
5. France

As Spock would say...Fascinating!

I recently added a Like Page to my Facebook account (Make Money Online From Home With Paul Krupinski | Facebook), will that entice people to sign up? Will this growing empire affect my traffic, and YOURS, as it continues to balloon moving forward?

Will FB be the number one place to drive traffic or is it just one piece of
a large puzzle for IM's? Your thoughts are appreciated. Cheers.

Paul K.

I don't know that it will be the number one place to drive traffic. I still think google will remain king in that arena for now. Facebook traffic is much different than targeted search traffic. It should definitely be a part of your promotional strategy however. Using all of the social sharing buttons are bound to get you more traffic. Just my two cents...

Facebook is trying to become the Internet within the Internet. I don't think they will stop until the first person a thing does when they turn on their computer is to login to Facebook as you won't need any other search engines or directories. You will be able to access everything you need and want through Facebook.

Yes, I think they still have a long way to go...

I totally agree with you , with people now being able to frame websites in fanpages facebook is moving towards a system where you would never have to leave facebook again.

I don't think it will ever get that far and I hope it doesn't even come close. There are still a lot of people who do not use Facebook. I have a few friends my own age who refuse to use it and I know they never will. So although it is making a big impact I don't think it is ever going to dominate the web entirely.

Interesting. I wonder, though, as the world becomes more and more reliant on it, if they will eventually cave in?

What do you think Facebook could offer to incentivize their usage?

On a side note, I've heard that many people who leave facebook -- for things like an organized protest, etc -- tend to always come back because they have become so reliant upon it.

I also have friends who initially thumbed their noses at Facebook (I was one of them as well), but from personal observation I feel that many will eventually succumb to social pressure, when they find all their friends posting events, pictures, videos and even RSVPs on it. Many will feel left out, and eventually cave in.

This is what makes Facebook such a gold mine, as you can reach such diverse demographics, and more importantly target very specific ones with its advertising.

Facebook has turn themselves into a sheer mammoth of a necessity. People will cave in, despite how resistant they are to it. We've seen it over and over with any kind of introduction of new technologies. People always resist--holding on to old ways....the best thing we can do though, now, is to learn to embrace it and leverage it.

But how many of these users are REAL?. Most of these accounts are created by auto bots etc.

I think FB is the future of IM.

At the rate it is growing and adapting, it will be the place where you'll be able to search and get all your search requirements fulfilled.

Google is king for now, but FB will soon be the interactive search engine of choice.

I agree totally Peter! Once Facebook has the capability of searching the WWW, then it will be #1 for IM in my opinion! Best.

Is anyone familiar with how facebook does advertising? Do they crawl for keywords within people's profiles? Then have your advertisement along the side?

I LOVE Facebook. I developed an entire business model for using Facebook to make money! I am doing very well and still getting great results there.

I think for newbies its perfect as it doesn't involve a lot of technical terms and its straightforward. Its easy to get overwhelmed when getting involved in IM and with facebook you can avoid this as its pretty basic stuff.

If you enjoy being social like I do and hate writing articles Facebook is an excellent marketing tool. In my eyes YES its number 1

Sorry, they can't. Even a robot, never sleeping, could spend no more than 43,200 minutes per 30-day month.

Maybe you meant "most people spend over 700 billion minutes per 13,500 years on Facebook"?

I'm kind of surprised that Google hasn't bought FB yet.

I'm betting they will merge at some point.

I agree that there is no denying the power behind Facebook. BUT, of course you must analyze and test your way to making it work for your business.

Like pages are a great way to update users and supply your website's visitors with news and the ever unfortunate server issue status. Interaction, IMO creates the highest amount of retention with users/customers/members.

Serving targeted ads to Facebook users will more then likely be a much bigger deal within a few years. If they can localize it there will be no stopping them, as in serving up local business ads. Imagine the power behind that, no highway billboard anywhere has 600 million cars passing it, yet they cost thousands per month.

A friend with deep pockets and a proffessional team recently tried advertising on Facebook with their version of pay per click ads ... zero traffic, zero. Conclusion is that Facebook traffic is anti commercialization an won't click on ads.
His ads get traffic in other locations on the www.
