Will my plan get me where I want to be?

So here's my plan. Firstly, I am an artist and have a website creating portraits from photos, as well as printing on canvas etc. So I am not looking to make money through adsense or anything, I am just looking (hopefully!) for top placements in the serps for my keywords. I had the following plan, however with the current ezine google slap thing I am unsure if I am on the right track or not. Therefore any advice on whether I am on the right track or not would be greatly appreciated!

Here's my plan:

1. [completed] I have just moved from an old cubecart website to a wordpress site with good on-site seo applied using seo ultimate plug.

2. Starting a free photo contest with prize. Requires newsletter sign-up to build mailing list. (promote via appropriate forums)

3. Starting a 'talent' support section showcasing some talented artists/photographers. (promote via appropriate forums)

4. Starting a 'tutorials' section with both text/graphic and video tutorials. Videos to be posted on youtube account also.

5. Constantly think of more 'quality' ways to bring people to my site.

6. Art is my passion, therefore I want to write lots of posts related to art with keywords interlinking to category pages I want to rank. Basically stuff I would want to read myself incorporating my passions.

7. Post these writings once daily on my blog. Bookmark them (digg, mister wong etc).

8. Once posts are indexed on my site, re-write (thebestspinner 50%) and post to ezine.

8. Use 'articlesubmitauto' to post out spun post to other article directories once live on ezine.

9. use Isnare in similar way to point 8.

9. Bookmark all of the above.

10. rinse and repeat...

My keywords go from, according to google, 'About 4,000,000 results' to 'About 36,700,000 results'. Will this plan get me close to where I want to be? Or should I re-think my plan? Any advice would be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance for any offered.

You'll have a good foundation, but where are the backlinks that you'll need in your plan?

What you'll need are contextual backlinks from related and relevant websites to move up the SERPs.

You shouldn't be looking at the number of results for your keywords, you need to look at the competition.

I'm not sure where else you "want to be", but if the quote is correct, aren't you already there?

I Think the underlying question really is: "will this make money" .

I see no reason why this will not be profitable, if monetized gently(not sending Clickbank offers 3 times a week). I think you're on a good track.

You will need to test. A LOT. Some things work better for other people.

      Matt,

When I first began my online endeavors, I went over to Staples, purchased a large dry-erase board, and filled it with my "plan". Everything I would possibly want to do, resources and tools I would need, etc. I know it's "on paper" right now, but it may help to lay it out on a dry erase board, as well...

hee hee.. thanks for making me laugh! I done exactly that. Bought a whiteboard. Mis-read the ad though (ebay), thought I was buying an A3 whiteboard until... and A0 arrived! It's huge! So plenty of space for new ideas.

I am hoping the spun posts, published through isnare etc will provide my backlinks, I presume you do not think they will? Or not enough?

I was using myarticlenetwork, but out of 85 articles about 5 have been published!? Non related. No move in serps whatsoever. So feel it is a waste of money. Am I wrong in my thoughts?

Should I be adding relevant blog commenting to my list?

Looking at my competition they seem to purchase blogroll links etc. Is that not a bad thing? Maybe not so...?

Wish I was! Wasted nearly two years posting to MAN. No results. Although further research tells me I was not making the best of my articles. But I did not feel they were 'quality' as I kept churning them out as much as I could. Trying to get 'natural' linking going with tut's, comps etc. 'Really' do not want, and cannot afford, to waste another 2 years! Or I 'will' be homeless.

  • You're missing something very important in your plan...

How you will go out to your audience instead of waiting for them to come to you.

Are there forums you can participate in or websites you can comment on which will bring you more visitors?
