Thesis vs Genesis - Can you help me decide?

I'm thinking about buying either one of these themes: Thesis or Genesis.
Anyone have any experience with both sides?
I've found that Thesis was designed to be very speedy and highly customizable, though the downside seems to be that a lot of people saying that it is really complex to learn to use. The main benefit being speed, but I've gone through their showcase and didn't really like the blog designs that most of their users had.
Genesis has a very impressive showcase, and I like the designs that they boast, along with the child themes. However, not sure if it is built to be fast-loading and speedy like Thesis theme. Also not too sure about the level of blog customizability.
I want both speed and superior design.
