Hi Everyone!

I think I have found my dilemma. I'm one of those who have read and researched and read for a long, long time. I realize that I would start putting all my pieces together until it came down to the time to writing my articles. I think this is my biggest problem. Everywhere I have read says that I should write my own articles starting out. But would it be such a bad thing if I tried outsourcing this area right away?

Thanks!

Outsourcing is tricky. I've tried, had little success, and just decided to keep everything 'in-house' for the time being. If you really don't like/can't write articles, outsourcing can be an option: be sure to be very specific with instructions, though.

I am paying $1.50 for some superb articles written by 2 writers in the USA. They are top quality. I don't even have to check them for spelling or grammar anymore. Only outsource if they can write within your context.

    hey jaja,

I just started my IM career and almost finished my first 10-20page website. I already know I don't like the writing and I'm also thinking about outsourcing. Yet I still do my own writing atm because I wanna know how it works. I wanna know exactly what a good article is and how to make it even if it are tough hours to write them (and though they are!) My general idea is if you don't know what a good article is how can you know if you pay for a good one?
I think it's a good thing to know every aspect of your business before you start outsourcing so you know what is good and whats bad. You'll also get a better understanding of whats possible.

But the again thays just my 2 cents and I'm a newb
Hope I can help you with this though!

Outsourcing can be a really expensive learning curve. Sometimes even when you think you've recieved some great, well written, 100% unique articles back, a few days later you'll stumble across a competitors site with some content that looks suspiciously familiar... And that's a lot of money to spend for something that's not completely original.

Why don't you consider PLR articles? Yep, you'll still be buying something that's probably already out there in the world, but it's a much cheaper option. And, you know you've got to change the content up anyway... make it unique, give it your own style and twist... Think about PLR as getting you three quarters of the way there, leaving you with only a fraction of the work.

I've outsourced too a few times, and have never been happy with the results.

That said, they were cheap, around the $5 mark. I think if you were to go to $10, you'd find a better article.

I only have them written for niches which are difficult to write about, I'd usually have to re write the cheap articles, but at least the re search is done.

PLR is also a good choice, and of course, as said, you can spin them and make them your own.

You should check out the free online IM coure, the challenge, The Challenge

Module 2 deals with finding content, and how to write content...

Thank you for your suggestion! Its definitely a good idea. What would you suggest for a site that has more technical type information that finding PLR articles is nearly impossible?

I too want to make sure I'm doing things right and want to have a good idea of what exactly a good article is. I can imagine (because I am sort of a control freak) that I would probably end up reading and changing some stuff anyway. But its that whole process of researching, putting the info together, and then putting it into words for the site.

While it's always a good idea to do it yourself before you outsource some people just hate writing and that's All there is to it. Make sure however if you do outsource writing for your main site that you spend enough to get quality work done.

Your content is the most crucial part of your business and u should invest accordingly.

I agree. I guess my challenge would be finding those people who will do a good job for me. The only real places I know of are fivver, elance, and odesk. I would assume that getting people with good rating (for the last two anyway) would be the best way to go?

If you have to you can outsource easier works at fiverr or odesk. Honestly, if you're a beginner don't get into outsourcing too much and use an amount of money you can afford to test it with first.

Just because you outsource doesn't mean you can't tweak the articles before releasing for widespread distribution. Just put your spin on the article and go with it.

Outsourcing is definitely an option. You can try some online services such as odesk.com or elance.com. When outsourcing though make sure you are very specific on what you want. Remember you are the boss in these situations.

Outsourcing is a very good thing to do when you are in a situation like you are. This will also clear up time for you to concentrate on other aspects of your business.

Do you absolutely hate writing or are you just a little scared? If it's the latter, you can try a few trial runs and see how your articles look without submitting them. It does get easier the more you do it and your confidence will grow. There are many people on here who would look over your content and give you pointers if you asked.

If you're not sure what to write, make a plan. If it's articles for article marketing, know that article marketing isn't the only way to drive traffic to your site. If it's blog posts you want to write, then decide on topics and consider using some other forms as well, such as video.

Outsourcing or using PLR is an option, but you want to add your personality so your site reflects who you are and what you stand for.

No, I don't think its a matter of fear. Even in high school and college I was actually pretty good at writing but even then it was a matter of me convincing myself I couldn't afford to fail the class in order to get my assignments done. Its just the process I dread...

Writing isn't that bad, hardest part is just doing it.

Outsourcing is a good option, but you have to be careful. I would note that you get what you pay for... but that isn't necessarily the truth.

Of course I would advocate PLR too, but you need to change it up a bit. You can totally rewrite it or you can use it as-is while adding your insights to it.

I agree with this. Just go ahead and give it your best effort. You can set a 15 minute timeline for writing, save it in a word program then walk away or do something else for about an 30 minutes to an hour. Come back to your article and spend another 15 minutes finishing it, rereading it or making any changes to improve it.

Sometimes if you can break your writing down into small amounts of time with a break in between you can stay more focused. You might be pleasantly surprised with your results.

        Good Luck!

I don't think anyone absolutely loves pounding out articles, especially when you're trying to tie in keywords... just do it.

Getting stuff outsourced and getting good results is a major skill in itself, after all the time it will take you to get that figured out, you could have written all of your articles, and learned a lot in the process.

Just force yourself to do it- this is work like anything else.

Better try it yourself and you would realize soon that you can be a good writer. Just do a little research and study about what you are planning to write, you can have all the resources through internet which is very convenient, rather than outsourcing where you are not sure of the outcome and yet you are obliged to pay. :-)

If you think, you really cannot write well, then just outsource it. There are other warriors also within this very forum who can help you to churn out quality articles on time. Or you can even buy Private Label Rights (PLR) articles and rework on it then use it for your work. One of the great places for PLR articles are EasyPLR.com. Hope this helps you...

If you hate to write, your readers will notice. After all, how can they be expected to get excited about something if the author doesn't even seem to care!

If you aren't very good at writing (and, hey, that's no knock on you; most people can't write), your readers will pick up on that, too.

Bottom line - the quality your content is very, very important. If you don't believe me, ask all of the people who lost their rankings in the Panda change! If you don't think that you can publish the very best stuff on your own, spend your time on other things, and leave the writing to a professional.

Nope. Plenty of people build their business on outsourced work from day one. Most of that advice you're seeing is operating from the assumption that you don't have any money, can't find a good writer, and don't really know what a good article looks like anyway.

But if you can afford a writer, you can find a good one, and you know what good articles look like? By all means, outsource.

    Jaja,

One sticking point for many people is that they try to write and edit at the same time. You may be criticizing your writing as you write, and that will slow you down.

Try a 5-minute "warm up" by opening notepad and writing straight for 5 to 10 minutes without stopping. Write whatever comes to your mind. This teaches you to let your words flow while shutting off your inner critic.

After that, write your important stuff, and come back to edit it on the second pass.

See if that helps you enjoy writing better.
