Is Blogging The Only Real Option For Financial Site?

Hey all,

I have a "financial" domain name that I think
is pretty strong. I've held it for years, and I
now want to spend some time and money on
developing it in to a proper website.

As it's a fairly speculative project 'though, I
can only commit limited time & money to it. Is
blogging (on a financial topic) the only realistic
option here?

I do realize that there are many ideas for fin.
sites that have, as yet, been unexplored. Such
ideas need lots of $$$ support, however, and I
am looking for options that are not revolutionary
but trade upon established ideas and have a low
start up cost.

Cheers,

Or at least what is the financial niche? How are you going to monitize it? Lead gen or Adsense?

        Oh, great, thank you.

Because of the generic nature of the domain, I
am able to pick from a variety of niches. The one
I have settled on 'though is "private banking" (in
        the UK).

Monetization (if it were a blog) would be from Lead
Generation, and site sponsorship. I do not feel that
Adsense et al would have any place on the site/blog
        unless it was absolutely necessary.

        Cheers, and thanks for replying,

      Hey Adam,

Sorry, I can't give it out. I'm just looking for
comments and ideas. The term "financial",
along with the other comments I made, is
      enough to enable feedback...

      Regards,

Many financial topics lend themselves to products and affiliate programs that you could certainly team up with to monetize your site. Searching the usual suspects, i.e. Clickbank, CJ, et al, and checking out available financial related offerings should get the gears turning. There are probably lots of other complimentary products you could JV with or advertise on your site that make sense for finance, such as credit counseling, stock trading courses, mortgages (Lendingtree, etc.)

If you really have a strong financial related domain secured, that's great, but that in itself isn't going to get you traffic, as I'm sure you know. Since you have limited money that you want to throw at this project, your best bet will be to focus on writing at least a few high quality, SEO optimized articles that will help get people into your site. It will then be up to you to build their trust, so that when you recommend 'Financial Affiliate product A', they trust you enough to buy it.

I don't know your experience level with the financial industry your domain deals with, but if you are an expert on that subject, you might consider writing your own ebook, or putting together a video that you could also sell on your site. If you really put something good together, you could even set up your own affiliate program for it and get other affiliates to help you sell it.

Really, the possibilities are endless. If you either have the time or money (or both) to put into it, I know you could do well with it.

Have fun and I hope your site is a great success!
