The Worst Salesman I've Ever Come Across

Today I was running late at work. I left the office at 5:50pm and wanted to catch the 6pm bus and be in time for dinner. Otherwise I'd have to wait another 20 minutes for the next bus and also I may not get a seat.

I ran to the lift pressing the ground floor button several times (as if it made the lift faster). I ran past a group of people handling leaflets and then one of them shouted "Excuse me, Sir".

I stopped and turned around thinking I dropped my wallet or my bag was open.

Then guy shouted, "Have you seen the latest fibre internet access which we have?"

I was mad. %$#$^&#!!

For the first time I swore loud in public with everyone looking at me. I didn't give a shit about missing the bus anymore. I made a scene and made sure that the guy got a bollocking from his supervisor.

I have to tell you, this is out of my character. I'm normally a very nice guy and very easy to get along with. Somehow today I completely lost it. I just didn't understand how can anyone be so stupid to stop someone to tell them about their service, when they are obviously in a rush. But then again thinking back now, I may have over-reacted.

The lesson is, even if you have the best sales pitch, you still have to deliver it at the right time and at the right place. Otherwise you'll hit the wrong emotional triggers.

Another thing. I would never do business with that ISP again. Another lesson, do one thing wrong and people will remember you for life...for the wrong reasons.

I feel much better after this rant. Thanks for reading.

Two weekends ago my wife went into a car dealership to enquire about buying a new people carrier.

By all accounts, new car sales are way, way down so I expected she'd get good service and a good deal.

Quite the opposite - they couldn't give her a price on the model she wanted. They promised to call her back the next day with a price quote and didn't. In fact 9 days later, and she's still waiting.

Ah well, maybe the US government will bail them out, so they don't really need the sale. Yes, it really was one of them!

    Cheers,

    Neil
