Can this make me money?

Hey Warriors,

After spending the last few weeks (maybe a month or so) snooping around on the WF picking up tips, reading success stories, successful methods, getting one or two cheap or free WSO's, I've decided upon a method that I'm gonna take action on. It may or may not make me money and get me up and running in the IM world.

All I ask of you guys (especially the more experienced Warriors!) is to review this for me. Add in anything you think might help me, take away something you might think is pointless, or let me know how I can do something better or something I'm doing wrong! All I ask is if you think it''l work and get me subscribers/buyers/sales etc.

So here goes this is the plan I've come up with taking bits and bobs from other peoples ideas. It's probably a bit amateurish, but I am an amateur (yet to make money)

Okay,

1. Set up a blog on Blogger with an opt in form for a free report and some adsense.
2. Set up auto responder sequence giving away some free stuff (good stuff though) and obviously the offer of one or two relevant affiliate products
3. Create a Hubpage with a post linking to my blog
4. Create Squidoo lens with a link to Hubpage and blog
5. Write an article on EzineArticles linking to Squidoo lens and blog
6. Write an article for ArticleBiz linking to EZ article and blog
7. Every day for the first week, post new content on the blog and Squidoo lens. (Do I need to create a new Hub? I'm not sure how to make a new post on my current Hub if it is at all possible!) Create another Hub/new post on Hubpages, and a new article on EZA + ABiz, linking to each other.
8. After the first week make one new post/article on one of my accounts linking to the blog. Also two new blog posts per week.
9. Ping every new post/article via Ping-o-matic

Well that is all I have right now. If you think this is good enough to go with let me know, should I scrap it? Is there anything you would do differently, anything you'd add in or take away? Please any help is welcome.

Thank you in advance,

Jamie D

      Hey,

Thanks for those two suggestions, I'll add them in!
I guess I just wanted a bit of re-assurance before spending my time on it.

      Thanks again.

I think your plan is a decent way to start off. There is one thing I would change, if you can. If you can spare a small amount of money, I'd really recommend that you get your own domain and hosting instead of using blogger. That way you won't be at risk of losing your blog suddenly just when you're gaining traction or humming along nicely.

There are some people who go along for years without issue at blogger but there have been many that are shut down without good reason, too. Plus, in the end, if you want to switch models or decide that plan isn't what you want to do, your domain is now an asset that can be sold.

I was going to say the same thing Tina did - if you can spare a little money, you will do very well to pick up a domain and hosting - because if your main business resource relies on a free service, you're asking for trouble in a long run.

Also, I wouldn't write an unique article just for the purpose of submitting it to an article directory.

Make it nice, make it count, publish it on your own site. Wait till its indexed (google webmasters is a nice way to tell for example) Then, submit the same article on EZA or wherever of the big ones you choose.

This way you get more value out of your writing.

Other than that, your plan seems nice.

One more thing I don't see you mentioning (perhaps you have done it already) is researching keywords - so that you could be sure you are targeting a profitable niche, which gets enough searches.

            Hey Matt,

I think I'm gonna just get my own domain for this as it's been suggested by two Warriors now, and I had no idea about bloggers tendencies to close people's blog.

Also, do mean only write one article per day and use it for all of the directories rather than write a unique one for every directory? What about Hubpages and Squidoo? Don't they require unique content?

I am targeting 5 keywords that are medium to low competition and over 10,000 monthly global searches according to Google's Keyword Tool. Is that good enough?

Thanks for the tips dude, much appreciated!

I didn't really mean to write only one article per day, write as much as you can keeping up quality - I was just pointing out that there is no point in submitting your good, unique content to article directories.

Hubpages and Squidoo do require unique content, at least that's the best way to use them, I don't know if they check though.

Monthly global searches - is this exact, phrase or broad? I suspect it's broad - how big is exact?

Oh okay, well perhaps spinning is an option.

Um, this is kinda embarrassing, I'm not sure how to find out the exact searches on GKT. I read somewhere that it's a the top right hand side of the list of keywords, but for the life of me I can't find it. :S So, yeah I think it is broad. If I'm searching for exact search keywords, what number of monthly searches would you recommend Matt?

                Thanks again!

Yes. It will work. The only caution is that following that plan will probably take you more time than you think. As soon as you can afford to you should outsource the more time consuming parts, like writing articles.

Good luck and please come back in a month and tell us how you get on.

              Thanks Mike,

I'm filled with confidence now from everyones words of encouragement and helpful tips.

I'll definitely be considering outsourcing article writing when I can afford to, it's not so much the writing that I don't like it's the researching and rewording of content to make it "my" content.

I will certainly be making an updated post in around a month.

              Thanks again.

Well I do have a baby account with hostgator from a few months back, which I can use for hosting. I guess all I'd need is a domain. Thanks for this Tina, as I wasn't aware of people's blogs being shut down like you mentioned. I'll take this on board.

          Thanks again.

Hey Jamie, you are on the right track as far as getting your content out there etc. Definitely, find the cash and get a hosted WP site.

I like to use blogger.com in the same way as you would use squidoo etc....put content on a very very basic blog on blogger (although I guess it wouldn't hurt to put a webform on there to collect leads and adsense) and link BACK to my main blog where all the action is.

It's easy to get caught up in the whole "where do I post and when/how/why" etc but seriously....just set up a blog and then write content that links back to it and put it in every possible place you can.

Also, do not neglect social media! 20-30 mins on Facebook (even if you have NO friends and NO fans) can EASILY get you about 50 visits a day from scratch if you do it right.

What is the topic of your blog going to be?

Hey Rachael, it seems the common change to this plan is to get my own domain and hosting using WP.

As for posting, I kinda have a plan for how I'm gonna go about that, just need to sort out the finer details of it before I dive into it.

Okay this might sound silly, but just to be sure, should I create a new Facebook account? I'm not really all that comfortable posting to my actual mates haha...

... and I've chosen to go with balding and hair loss (my hair line suggests I know a bit about it, well enough to connect with the audience on a personal level haha), so rather than going with a passion, it's more of an insecurity haha...

... nice! It's actually good to know there are more Scots doing this, for no apparent reason I thought I was the only one ha!

It's up to you if you get a new profile or not. I just dove right in and used my own but I am blogging for internet/network marketers so it's probably a bit less of a sensitive subject.

Facebook can be picky about you having two accounts though and may delete/suspend one or both if they suss it out

Your first mistake is setting up a free hosted Blogger blog. Why don't you invest in a self hosted Wordpress blog? Do not build your business on quicksand it will sink. Blogger or Google owns your blog, and will probably delete it. You do not have to worry about this scenario if you spend a few bucks on a domain name and paid hosting. Just warning you if you plan on spending a considerable amount of time on that blog its a dead end.

Pay for a domain name, and hosting. Do not be cheap it will cost you in the end.

Other than that your plan sounds good!

Yes! I am definitely going with the paid domain now, that's 3 Warriors recommended it. I did think I'd be better off with a paid domain and hosting, but I was just curious to see if it could be done 100% free. It doesn't seem like it's worth the risk of finding out though.

Also, for article directories submission you do not need to write a unique article each and everytime. You may right and unique article for ezine, and then spin it with the help of the bestspinner and submit it to the rest of article directories.

Try diversifying the article directories you submit to. That would provide you with more unique URL backlinks to your website, ranking you even higher than it would if you stuck with what you have now.

Sorry I'm not exactly sure what you mean by social media active... do you mean able to be published or linked to a Facebook Page and Twitter account? If so then yes, I'm actually thinking about setting up a Posterous account too, so I can post daily content to a social media network.

This is something I missed out, thanks for pointing that out

I don't know if anyone suggested this or not, but I would recommend buying a domain that is relevant to your affiliate product and set up a blog on that. The hosting will cost you the most, however, you can use your server to set up other projects when you're ready so it's a good investment. Having your own domain ensures that you control it and all the link building you are doing will be worth it. The last ting you want to do is spend a lot of time building links and a sites you are using like squidoo closes down and all the links are useless. Having your own domain is the best strategy and with the ease of use of wordpress and free templates, you won't spend a ton of money to get it going. Whatever you choose to do, stick with it. Don't jump from thing to thing because you can't quantify your results and you won't know if what you are doing is working. Patience and time, that's what you need

If your content in your blog is social media active, you may want to leverage on facebook or twitter to bring in traffic from there.

Grab a fan page and get an attractive title.

Build up a fan base or "buy" some targeted fan.

This will get you some good traffic.

Remember to install google analytics on your blog to track

    Best of luck

I believe you are on the right track. Just keep a daily task sheet available so you don't get bogged down or overloaded. You want to take consistent steps on a consistent basis or you could get burned out (because you have a LOT on your plate). Best of wishes to you. Oh and don't forget to track what you are doing and what is working best.

The truth of th matter is that you'll never know until you take action.

So many people plan so much without taking action. Without action
the true results will never appear.

You seem to be on the right track.
That's a lot of setting up. I'm sure you can outsource most of that
however if budgetary reason are holding you back from outsourcing
then get ready for a lot of your time to be used up.

As long as you're prepared, take the action and let us know what your
results are. In fact, send me your product.

I would scrap the adsense. It takes credibility away from your site.

    Love it!
    Go for it man.

This sounds like a really good marketing plan. Just make sure you create unique content and choose the right anchor text keywords to use when creating back links. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.
