Delving Into the Fitness Niche

I have finally come to a conclusion regarding what I am going to do to make money via the internet; Creating an authority website on fitness. I understand that this is going to be a HUGE undertaking, but I have 18 months until I graduate and I am confident that I can do it.

My purpose for the site will be to provide a hub for information regarding losing weight, building muscle, and leading a healthy life.

My financial goals for the site are as follows; AVERAGE $100/day within 6 months, $300/day within 18.

Steps that I will take to fulfill the purpose and achieve the goals: Provide QUALITY first and foremost. Post actionable and legitimate advice daily to the site.

Monetization: Product review and marketing (after the providing lots of quality and information of course.)
Ads? (not sure on this one)
Creating a product of my own

Traffic: Articles, guest posts, SEO, videos, forums, web 2.0... all that jazz.

I know that this is a niche full of hungry people and that there is limitless potential. That being the case, it will take every bit of my time and energy to accomplish these goals within 18 months. Nonetheless, I am GOING to do it.

In case you were wondering why I am sharing this with everyone, I am doing it because I am going to need a lot of encouragement. I look forward to sharing my progress with everyone!

Thanks for listening to yourself read this post,

James

Good luck dude, hope this isn't your "first" experience with IM and you know what you're doing though!

I'd be interested in your progress, as i've been thinking about a fitness site for some time but havent got round to checking out what the comp is like and search queries etc.

You'll need a much more unique selling position than simply being an autority blog on fitness product reviews.

Just as with MMO, or dating/seduction, or with any of the larger evergreen segments, I would recommend either finding a smaller sub-niche within that massively crowded segment in which your voice can become the authority, or, creating a new method or technique that readers can only get by coming to you for more information.

You'll figure it out as you go, and the competition will make you better.

Yah I know what you mean Craig, I am planning on targeting a sub niche and then expanding from there. Regarding the competition, it will probably be the main motivator for me as I am ULTRA competitive, so I won't stop until I get the site where I want it to be. Thanks for your input.

Thanks jpr106! And no, this isn't my first IM venture.

James its good that you have set your goals and decided upon a time frame to achieve them . Now start taking massive action and don't get discouraged by initial setbacks or failures. I would also recommend that you build a list in your niche so that you can monetize your site better

    Good luck
