How to get your Amazon Affiliate Account Banned

Can you answer questions in Yahoo Answers based on a specific question about a product and then answer the question and send them to your amazon link. ??

Reason I ask is Some guys are promoting a technique and say its absolutely ok where as some others are saying its against tos and you will get your account banned.

So which is it

Also any other ways to get your account banned real quick

mask your url with a fairly unpopular service....dont use the obvious ones like tinyurl or bitly.... go to microworkers and post the job.... you need $10 minimum....and pay like 20 cents per answer with your link....you will have your links spread out in no time...

I dont personally do this but i know a guy who does this. I dont recommend doing this with amazon though.

Have you read the TOS? That seems like a good place to start.

Why take someone else's word for it?

Yes I have read the TOS and I dont see where it gives an opinion about answering someones direct question about a SPECIFIC product and then answering the question and then reccomending Amazon to purchase the item from using your affiliate link.

But feel free to point it out to me if I missed it

I don't have anything to point out. I was just saying that reading the TOS is best.

I can almost guarantee you that you'll have some people saying Yes" and some saying "no."

It's best to go to the source.

I always just email and ask if unsure of the terms.. Amazon has always returned my emails quickly also.

I agree with you and prior to posting this I spent and hour or so searching for what not to do where AA is concerned and its not really clear even after reading there TOS and also several people lost account for reasons also not clear in the TOS, so the point of this post was to find out from people that have actually lost there accounts and for what reason, so others may avoid those problems.

TOS are rather confusing and not really clear for everyone which is why 99.9% of people dont bother to read TOS or terms and conditions because usually its all gobbledegook legal jargon.

I personally don't see anything wrong with this from an Amazon point-of-view; I actually think there's a higher possibility of it being against the Yahoo TOS.

Think of it this way - what's the difference between posting an afflink on Twitter/Facebook/in e-mail/blog comments/et al and posting it in Yahoo Answers? Not much to me, unless I'm reading your question wrong.

I think the only time you will really run into trouble with this approach is if you get too many complaints from other users that all you are doing is promoting affiliate links without providing proper answers. If however you provide a proper answer and happen to include your affiliate link, I can't see anything wrong with that.

I sent Amazon an email asking if it's okay to post affiliate links on Yahoo answers, and they said no.

Now why would you go and do something that makes this much sense when you could come here and read a bunch of random opinions from people who haven't read the TOS?

The only thing left to save this thread is that most of the random opinions yet to come won't read this far down before posting their guesses...:p

It's like the guy at a bar who keeps asking his buddy if the buddy thinks a girl will go out with him. The buddy answers, "why ask me when she's right there? Go ask her, man..."

It's almost scary how right you are proving to be.

And I agree. Why ask a third party? Go right to the source and ASK. Don't get "opinions" from others. They don't know for sure.

I have read the TOS as well and there is nothing mentioned that forbids you from posting your links on YA.. Check the Amazon Associates discussion forum as well, you might find the answer there...

      Regards,
I'm not sure about the Amazon side of things but if you share self-serving (affiliate) links on YA's you will get terminated there. So if you want to keep getting new Yahoo email accounts to advertise your links on YA's you'll be very busy trying to keep it up. Last time I checked once you lose your account at YA's they will never give it back. BUT, they'll let you open a new one with a new email account - every time.
