Newbie Challenge
The resources:
my computer and internet access
a flip video camera
less than $75 cash
a dream, backed up by a business plan that could use some fleshing out
my love of teaching
a total naivety of most computer related issues and technology (means I don't have any bad habits, yet!)
What I would like to do is pretty simple, I'd like to produce high quality web presentations (webinars, webcasts, podcasts, etc) on a variety of subjects for sale to the viewers.
In reading and researching, I'm finding that most presentations which are made have backend products associated with them. It seems that in many cases, the backend product is actually the "primary" product, with the presentation developed with the goal of marketing that product. I would like my presentations to be the primary product. I am planning on backend products and it would be foolish to miss such a great opportunity, however, my backend products will be designed to support or promote the topic of the associated presentation. For example (this is not a topic I would be presenting on, is merely something I chose for example purposes only)... let's say I did a presentation on Developing Better Time Management Skills: with backend products being a variety of planners, a wrist watch with a super duper alarm. But my primary product would be the presentation itself, if I sold any backend products, it would be icing on the cake.
I prefer not to do live initially and possibly never due to a less than reliable internet connection. Ideally, my web presentations will be mostly powerpoint based, but I'd like to integrate some video segments throughout. I don't know how to do that and would sure appreciate some suggestions.
I have looked for a comparison of reviews of the top webinar hosts and I'm not finding any recent ones. Anyone know if there's a good one out there? Any specific reasons I should go with one host and not another?
I have broken my plans down into some major sections:
Planning
Producing
Promoting
Presenting
Profiting
Right now I'm still in the planning phase and thinking I'm making this a lot tougher than it really needs to be.
I'd like to move on to the production stage fast. Once I have the initial presentation completed, then I can take the time I need to promote. So.. I guess that's where I'm at. I'll gladly take suggestions for the "planning" phase. Will say that I am confident of my topics and my audience. The Production phase is where I'm struggling.
How do I take that camera, that computer, put them together and come up with a quality presentation... fast??
At this point, I don't want to make any purchases, the money I have on hand for this project is destined to go towards domain name/host/business license.
Ok, you experienced folk... I could really use some guidance!
