Very Cool Screen Capture Tool

I don't know how many of you have heard about Jing's screen capture tool, but I love it.

It's a little half sun icon that sits anywhere along the edges of your screen, top, bottom, left or right, completely adjustable.

When you want to capture a image or video you just click capture button, click and drag to capture part or all of screen, what ever you want, then you can tell it to capture image or start video capture. After your done you can gram a link to send to friends so they can view pic immediatey or grab embed code for video.

This is from Techsmith so you can also send video to Camtasia for editing or upload directly to Screencast.com.

Now I know some of you are saying, so what, I have Camtasia for all of that, but I find Camtasia a pig on ram and it really slows down browsing when capturing video and switching or loading pages on net, but this Jing runs sooooo smoothly.

Check it out: TechSmith | Jing, instant screenshots and screencasts, home

I LOVE Jing and use it all the time. It's amazing how much you realize you needed a tool once you've downloaded it. I never thought I'd need a screen capture tool like that until I downloaded Jing and now I use it all the time - I love the fact that you can share things on screencast too. It's great value for the free version, and still great value if you decide to upgrade so you can share videos on Youtube etc too.

If you can't afford it find a free solution. Don't suggest that people do something illegal and unethical. If you can't afford MS Office download Open Office. My brother is a software engineer and there are other developers on here that would probably be a little miffed if you suggested that if someone can't afford to purchase their product (or your product) that they should just find a pirated version of the product... or your product.

Agreed! I do have Camtasia though, but from now on I am using this free version of Jing for my captures/videos, then transfer it to Camtasia for editing. Awesome program and runs sooo smooth.

I love Jing because of its simplicity and effectiveness! Besides, I can also access all my previous image captures via screencast.

So is Jing able to record full screen Prezi presentation?
Have tried CamStudio but it keeps getting blurry everytime I moved to the next slide

I use and love Jing Pro (only $15 for a full year). And another good free option is Screencast-O-Matic - Free online screen recorder for instant screen capture video sharing.

does anyone know of a very good screen capture tool that will let me capture a full length video ... ie jing is great, but even the pro version seems to have a 5 min max limitation ......

i especially want to capture those teaching videos that seem to be "embedded" into the web page (usually a white page background with no video controls visible) - some are up to one hour long ... and often they do not have a download button and do not download with real player

.... i just prefer to download them and then watch the videos at my own convenience rather than have to do it when looking at the webpage....

    free is good ...

but i have a lot of these "embedded" videos to watch and can claim it as a deductable ..

so paid is also OK ...

main thing is it has to work and catch the audio as well as the video (and i need to be able to name the video to what i want, rather than some meaningless set of numbers or longwinded keyword rich sales copy title

any help or advice is appreciated
    regards

I am still not sure why someone with Camtasia 7 and the built in screenshot facility in Windows 7 would need Jing as well.

Thanks! Was looking for something like this. The normal way I was used to was to screen capture, paste into photoshop, and then crop, then save it... lol Dean
