I have read something about the power of mobile marketing. The ad spending will be $11 billon dollar in a few years. Crazy. The rate of messages opened is far better than email. Amazing. Think about it.

I am already offering mobile marketing to a certain cross section of my clients -- they LOVE it. Just have to be sure that your leveraging mobile advertising with the right kind of business for it to be effective.

I used Admob to do it. I even had a guide as a wso at a point but took it off since not many ppl were interested in it.

You can use admob to run ppc on a big variety of phones...but I just did on iPhone since it seemed to me that there is a bigger opportunity in it.

The problem with mobile ad text services for IM is that the per msg fees are pretty expensive if you have a decent sized list and want to send a text a few times a week.

Our new service, MobiOptin.com, is a FLAT RATE broadcast service, NOT using the email gateway but actually using SMS. I ran a WSO for it awhile back - the WSO is closed but check out the link in my sig file, download the free report - and then PM me if you are interested and I will send you the DEEPLY discounted WSO price.

BTW - we are also selling to offline businesses and the response has been phenomenal! We just picked up a 75 location fast food chain - and even at the discount we gave them for multiple locations - it's going to be a huge monthly residual ;-)

This thread is actually talking about two different forms of mobile marketing: Admob and similar services are the Pay Per Click format of advertising to people that are NOT already on your lists.

The WSOs mentioned (both mine and mojoisland) are about using mobile marketing to communicate with your own subscriber list, just as you probably do with email now.

Mobile ads or 'alerts' have an open rate of approx 95% - obviously much higher than email, making it a great way to keep in touch with your existing subscribers rather than simply using email - which is getting worse all the time.

In fact, you can use an AdMob campaign to get people to optin to your mobile marketing list, just as you would use Adwords to drive people to your email optin list.

I did not use SMS. It was like Adwords but only that it appeared on iPhones...on websites that iPhone users are browsing.
And it doesn't cost very much either. I paid a maximum of 10 cents per click and as low as half a cent per click.

      Hi,

I know you're discussing mobile marketing using sms etc here - but don't forget about creating a mobile version of your website - I mean - how many people do you know who are creating mobile versions of their site?

That's why I'm so impressed with xsitepro 2 software and created xsitepro2madeeasy the course for it, because with just a couple of clicks it automatically creates a mobile version of your site and uploads it into a 'mobile' folder which gets loaded when someone visits from a mobile phone - I just don't understand why more people don't use it.

You get to make the immediate sell because Sally will be much more likely to buy now that she has 10% off... and she knows that it is only good for today.

Now we can fast-forward to 1 week later... you send Sally a new text message offering her 10% off one of your other products that you think she will enjoy. You send her the web address, the promotional code and let her curiosity do the rest."

I don't know what stage things are in in the U.S. but doing that in the E.U. has been illegal for, I think, about 6 or 7 years.

For example, in Ireland (which has similar regulations to the rest of the E.U., as they were derived from an E.U. Directive), you can NOT send text messages to customers unless, among other requirements, they have bought something in the last 12 months AND you specifically ask them if they consent to contact in that format AND explain who will have access to their number AND offer them a cost-free means to opt-out of further communication EVERY SINGLE TIME you contact them (there's half your SMS space gone already!). If you don't comply, and are prosecuted, you risk a penalty of €3,000 per violation.

Afaik, these regulations came about in response to a HUGE public resentment of commercial SMS messages (probably because people are FAR more attached to their phones than just about any other piece of personal technology).

If the U.S. isn't at the stage where regulations like these are being planned, or are already in place, you can be sure they will follow as soon as the practice is more widespread.

      Tommy.

P.S. - I had a quick look in Google before hitting the "Submit Reply" button and was suprised to find that American mobile phones owners pay to receive text messages (something likely to annoy people even more).

We also offer the same service that MobileMarketingMasters does - but that particular service has a per msg fee. It's great if you have a small list, and we sell a LOT of accounts to real estate agents etc. The back office offers all kinds of features - from a mobile website creation tool to future scheduling of broadcasts but the per msg fee makes it a killer for anyone with a large list.

We developed the MobiOptin Broadcast specifically for IMers with the need to send out large amounts of text messages frequently at a ROCK BOTTOM FLAT RATE.

And we also pay out 50% commission - and will be happy to set up a special deal for Warriors with lists - and I am working on setting up a two tier structure as well

    newyorktrader - responding!

In my opinion text message marketing is too spammy and I will remove myself from a list like that after the third text message. But the younger crowd these days love text messages so if you can target a certain business type and target market it should do great.

To simply lump all mobile marketing into one group as spammy is about the same as saying that all newsletters are spammy!

First of all - this service is entirely OPTIN - so you have to WANT to be on the list in the first place.

And if you think that only the younger crowd is using it - you need to check the stats again! recent stats from Mobile Marketing and Emarketing both confirm that for the first time ever - mobile phones were used more for texting than calls in Q3 of 2008 - and the fastest growing age group for texting is now the 35 to 50 age bracket.

It's a rapidly changing marketplace - and this is one area where brick and mortar businesses are FAR ahead of IMers.

We've been in the space for more than 2 years now and it is growing at an amazing pace!

    good point thomas

that has been an objection to the few folks to who I have presented this ..is that it cost the advertiser, AND the prospect....
I love the idea as long as everyone involved wants to participate and aware of the costs.
